FALCON & THE WINTER SOLDIER Star Daniel Brühl Confirms His Character Will Adopt Baron Zemo Mantle

We figured this to be the case anyway, but Daniel Brühl has now shared a photo from the set of Falcon & The Winter Soldier which confirms that his character will indeed call himself Baron Zemo on the show.

When it was announced that Daniel Brühl would reprise his Captain America: Civil War role of Helmut Zemo for the upcoming Falcon and The Winter Soldier Disney+ series, fans wondered if he'd actually adopt the Baron Zemo mantle from the comics. The actor has already confirmed that he'll don the costume, and now he's revealed that the name will indeed come with it.

Brühl shared the following photo from the set of the currently shooting series to his Instagram, making it very clear that he will be going by Baron Zemo when he reemerges to give Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) sleepless nights.

In addition to Mackie, Stan, and Brühl, Emily Van Camp is set to return as Sharon Carter, and it's also been announced that Overlord actor Wyatt Russel will play U.S. Agent.

The six-part limited series will be directed by Kari Skogland. The show is expected to debut late next year.

@MrCamw1 - Not unless Zemo is going to use the Avengers to make a movie.

How much do you wanna bet that Zemo lied about everything in Civil War? I bet that he’s a) German and not Sokovian, b) he’s a HYDRA operative, and c) the Sokovia Accords were a HYDRA conspiracy this whole time?

@OptimusPrime114 - I don't know how I would feel about that, but it does sound cool.

It's Zemo's fault that iron man and widow is dead. Had he not split the avengers up they would've been able to defend the earth and maybe take Thanos and his forces down the first time.

I actually liked Zemo quite a bit. Civil War is my number 1 comic book movie period

@MyCoolYoung - I blame Xandar.

They failed to stop Thanos from getting the Power stone. Thanos with one stone was practically a god. Without a stone he could easily make short work of Hulk.

They would have still lost either way.

I figure Zemo is going to be VEHEMENTLY against there being a new Captain America.

We forget, he was going to kill himself before Panther stopped him. His plan was complete, what else was there to do. Maybe he disagrees with the idea of there being a “Captain America” at all – an American super soldier who travels the world, imposing order with force, another self righteous hero being reborn that could lead to another Avengers. Which in turn is what Zemo hates most of all

In the comics, When Sam takes over the mantle of Captain America, almost immediately after Zemo leads a vicious attack on the world, utilising many of Cap’s villains like Baron Blood, Crossbones and Sin.

Zemo could form his own Thunderbolts to stop US Agent and Sam, two threats of being the new Cap.

Then again, his original ideology is still motive enough, the Avengers causing this collateral damage of sorts and just walking away from it. Having being snapped or witnessing the snap could also be the reason behind his new revenge plan, this time against Falcon and Winter Soldier; knowing him, he would go after the remaining heroes to avenge those who were blipped, even if they eventually came back. The Avengers INVITED this awfulness into the world. What took them so long? Why did this happen? What choices did they make or not make that lead to the outcome? Zemo sets out to make an example of them again, starting with Falcon and Winter Soldier, who’ve been tasked with taking him down.

@BlackBeltJones - I hope they save Sin for season 2 along with the Serpent Squad. (That was way more alliterative than I intended.)
