Disney has revealed that Marvel's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is officially the most-watched series premiere ever for the Disney+ streaming service, topping WandaVision and The Mandalorian.

Though it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise that a lot of people tuned in for the latest chapter in the continuing MCU saga, Disney has now announced that last Friday's series premiere of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier attracted the most viewers for any previous Disney+ show over the course of its opening weekend.

Though the official figures were not shared, TFATWS reportedly ranks as the most watched series premiere ever on the streaming service, and the most watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis, including in Disney+ Hotstar markets.

The intriguing first episode joins the premieres of WandaVision and the season two premiere of The Mandalorian as the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date.

"New World Order" brought us up to speed with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and James "Bucky" Barnes as they attempt to adjust to life after "The Blip." The titular heroes didn't actually cross paths in the premiere, but are expected to team-up in this Friday's installment.

All eyes are on the shield, as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, decide to team up—or rather, work together—when a new global threat launches them into an unexpected mission that may hit too close to home.

The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will see the titular heroes team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities...and their patience. Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the series also stars Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.

I loved this episode. I loved the vibe, I loved the themes and I loved seeing these characters again.

Keep it coming Marvel.

@TheManWithoutFear - as much as I'm excited for the next episode, I wonder what is Baron Zemo's role in this.

I liked WandaVision's first episode more, but I was really into the sitcom gimmick.

Some great action scenes in the premiere as well as a nice dive into the less glamorous side of being an Avenger. Well played Disney.

This is gonna be [frick]ing juicy. SambaTv measures what people watch on a smart tv. They said WW84 saw 2.2 Million people tune in to its premiere.

They said the Snydercut was watch by 1.8 Million and made a comparison to WandaVision's 2 episode premiere at 1.6 Million. And now Disney plus is letting us know FatWS beat WV.

Also as Nick Mason points out:

I like a superhero with somewhat limited abilities that knows how to use his powers correctly. A guy that works with what he's got and really puts it to effective use.

Falcon getting the all-star treatment in this series.

@SpaceAgent - Sam does make the most of it with he has, but I do see him trying to get a loan as proof he do tries to do more

@SpaceAgent - this is why Tony in Iron Man 3 and the midpoint of Civil War are my favorite moments of his. No super suit but still kicking ass

@SpaceAgent - AGREED.

Falcon has become one of my favorites in the line ups. He’s had a great arc throughout the movies and I’m stoked to see the man take center stage in this series, STRONG START.

@OmegaDaGrodd - was not at all a fan of iron man 3 when it first came out. However going back in watching it since Endgame I REALLY dig it. It’s a Tony story through and through. Seeing him on the back foot and improvising was a refreshing thing to see out of the armor.

Disney Plus is ROCKING!

"The enormous success of Disney+ --which has now surpassed 100 million subscribers--has inspired us to be even more ambitious, and to significantly increase our investment in the development of high-quality content," said Disney CEO Bob Chapek.
