Though it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise that a lot of people tuned in for the latest chapter in the continuing MCU saga, Disney has now announced that last Friday's series premiere of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier attracted the most viewers for any previous Disney+ show over the course of its opening weekend.
Though the official figures were not shared, TFATWS reportedly ranks as the most watched series premiere ever on the streaming service, and the most watched title overall for the same time period on a global basis, including in Disney+ Hotstar markets.
The intriguing first episode joins the premieres of WandaVision and the season two premiere of The Mandalorian as the three most-watched Disney+ Original series opening weekends to-date.
"New World Order" brought us up to speed with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and James "Bucky" Barnes as they attempt to adjust to life after "The Blip." The titular heroes didn't actually cross paths in the premiere, but are expected to team-up in this Friday's installment.
All eyes are on the shield, as Sam Wilson, aka The Falcon, and Bucky Barnes, aka The Winter Soldier, decide to team up—or rather, work together—when a new global threat launches them into an unexpected mission that may hit too close to home.
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will see the titular heroes team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities...and their patience. Directed by Kari Skogland with Malcolm Spellman serving as head writer, the series also stars Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker.
