#SamWilsonIsCaptainAmerica
That was trending worldwide yesterday following the final episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Anthony Mackie has now taken to Twitter to share his gratitude with fans of the series.
Sharing a shot of himself suited up as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's new Captain America, he says: "What a Friday it has been...thank you to everyone who’s seen The Falcon and The Winter Soldier."
In our review of yesterday's episode, we concluded by saying, "The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's finale ushers in a bold new era of storytelling for the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an episode that sees Anthony Mackie firmly establish himself as the deserving new face of this shared world."
Hours after the finale hit Disney+, it was confirmed that Marvel Studios is moving forward with a Captain America 4 from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier showrunner Malcolm Spellman.
As you might expect, that will feature Anthony Mackie's Sam Wilson in the lead role. As for Chris Evans' rumoured MCU return, that's reportedly a separate project. We don't know what direction that will head in, but speculation points to it focusing on Steve Rogers' trip back through the MCU's timeline.
