Los Angeles' El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard has confirmed that an I Am Groot short will play in front of Thor: Love and Thunder between July 18 - July 24.

It's unclear whether this is an episode of the upcoming Disney+ series or a newly created short, though we're guessing it's probably the former given what a limited release this is. So, if you live in Hollywood, you're in luck. As for the rest of us, we're obviously going to have to wait.

If we had to hazard a guess, Marvel Studios is looking to build hype for the series and will likely also premiere "Magnum Opus" during its San Diego Comic-Con panel next Saturday. That will run for 90 minutes in Hall H, so there will be plenty of time to put the spotlight on Baby Groot while teasing a number of other upcoming projects heading our way in Phase 4 and beyond.

As for this newly released poster, we now have a better idea of the sort of hijinks the sentient tree will be getting up to. We'd imagine this is indicative of the animation style as well.

I Am Groot is a collection of five original shorts starring Baby Groot, everyone’s favourite little tree, and will feature several new and unusual characters. All five shorts will be available for viewers to watch upon launch, and the expectation is that the show will feature photorealistic animation more akin to regular VFX than a cartoon.

"There’s no guarding the galaxy from this mischievous toddler," reads the official synopsis. "So get ready as Baby Groot takes center stage in his very own series, exploring his glory days growing up - and getting into trouble - among the stars."

Vin Diesel, who is the voice of Groot in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, is the voice of Baby Groot. The writer/director is Kirsten Lepore, and the executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum and James Gunn.

I Am Groot is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 10, just one week before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law also debuts on the streaming service.

I can wait for this to inevitably be dumped onto Disney+ to watch it, but chances are I'll forget and never watch this.

I must be turning into an old man, because I'm just not excited about the MCU these days. Much in the way Crisis On Infinite Earths felt like a good jumping off point for the CW shows and I slowly stopped investing my time with them, I feel like Endgame was the culmination of the MCU I loved and a good jumping off point, as now it seems Disney is just doing anything they can to keep the momentum going from what was once a truly revolutionary time in Comic Book Movies. Marvel perfected the formula, but much in the way a delicious cake makes you sick after eating too much and the flavor begins making you feel ill, I think I may have had my fill of this flavor of MCU.

I want something different now, and it seems the house of mouse is just repackaging the same basic stories but with different heroes. And part of the magic of the MCUs secret formula was the Avengers getting together and building towards Thanos. That was the dream we all had in common, to see them assemble.

Now the only real thing I'm looking forward to is seeing if they can manage to not [frick] up the X-Men and Fantastic Four. Each Infinity Saga film, I pre ordered my tickets and was there opening night because I just had to experience the next installment. Since Endgame I haven't watched any of the MCU films in a theater except for No Way Home, and that wasn't until about 2 weeks after its release.

I still enjoy MCU products, but I haven't loved anything (save for the Khan Family, they are the best thing the MCU has right now) since the Infinity Saga concluded.

I'm ready for Phase 4 to start bringing the pieces together for this Saga and show me something I cant afford to miss out on, because right now I'm on the verge of cancelling my subscription to the MCU.

I can understand some of the feelings here. On the other hand- my 5 and 8 year old daughters are into Marvel because shows like this. We will be watching! I need this content to train up my daughters! ;) They ask me questions about the characters so then I bust out the comics! Soon they will be starting their collections! Let’s go!!
