Yes, the roar featured in the closing moments of this sneak peek belongs to King Ghidorah, the iconic three-headed dragon and Godzilla's ultimate archenemy. With massive wings, two tails, and the ability to shoot devastating, lightning-like gravity beams from its three mouths, filmmaker Takashi Yamazaki's take on King Ghidorah will almost certainly exceed expectations.
The monster's appearance hasn't been revealed yet, but based on how this trailer ends, King Ghidorah will be more than a match for humanity and Godzilla alike.
"War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus," reads Godzilla Minus Zero's synopsis. With overwhelmingly positive reviews (it has 99% on Rotten Tomatoes) and an impressive $116 million at the worldwide box office on a reported $10 million to $15 million budget, Toho wasted no time when it came to greenlighting a sequel.
At the 2023 Academy Awards, Godzilla Minus One became the first-ever non-English-language movie to win an Oscar for "Best Visual Effects." In doing so, it bested big-budget Hollywood blockbusters like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Creator, and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.
