We've known for a while now that Dominique Thorne will make her MCU debut as Riri Williams in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but there are still some lingering questions relating to the reasons for her introduction and how she'll factor into the movie's plot.
All will be revealed this Friday when Wakanda Forever hits theaters, but we will say that Miss Williams does have a bigger part to play than you might expect, and it sounds like her role in Ryan Coogler's sequel will directly lead-into her upcoming Ironheart Disney+ series.
While speaking to CinemaBlend, producer Nate Moore revealed how the idea for the Ironheart show first came about.
Moore doesn't reveal any major details here, but some might consider his comments to be mildly spoiler-y.
"That show is an outgrowth of how much we liked her in this movie and even on the page. So, when we talked with [Dominique Throne] initially, obviously the character had been written to the script and she was the one and only person we talked about for the role. When she said yes and we were down the road with the script, we also started talking with [Ryan Coogler] about what the show could be."
"So, the show is a direct sequel to the movie," he continued. "And [Riri Williams] is carrying the experiences she had in this movie back home to MIT. And there are some interesting repercussions to her adventures that will set her on a fun course."
Ironheart is definitely shaping up to be a more mystical affair than Wakanda Forever, as Riri is set to face off with the demonic Hood and possibly even Mephisto himself. With that in mind, it'll be very interesting to see how the film lays the groundwork for the show.
