Jonathan Majors first played Kang in Loki's season 1 finale, though it was in the villain's He Who Remains form. The time-traveller had managed to master control of all time, creating the Sacred Timeline and eliminating his Variants from existence.
However, when Sylvie killed He Who Remains, the Multiverse was reborn and Multiversal war now beckons. We'll first meet Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, with the expectation being that he'll go on to become the MCU's new big bad (though there's always a chance another of his Variants will take his place).
According to scooper Daniel Richtman, "there will be multiple Kang variants in Loki [season 2]," with that claim following a recent report that Majors has been on set shooting additional scenes for the Disney+ series.
Another interesting tidbit is that the show "will introduce a new concept called Time Loom...it is the source of the TVA power. They use the energy from the time stream and absorb it."
It will be interesting seeing how that comes into play here, and if this so-called Time Loom is that powerful, it may well be something Kang wants to get his hands on. In fact, with He Who Remains no more, that might just be why all these Variants decide to take aim at the TVA.
We'll have to wait and see; it's important to note that this is just a rumour and nothing has been confirmed at this stage.
In the closing moments of Loki's sixth episode, the God of Mischief found himself in an alternate reality where Kang openly ruled over the TVA, so we're bound to see Majors come into play somehow. With any luck, the next Ant-Man movie will include a post-credits scene setting the stage for the show's return!
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania arrives in theaters on February 17, while Loki season 2 is set to premiere on Disney+ this summer.
