LOKI Star Jonathan Majors Faces Another Setback As DA Declines To Prosecute His Ex-Girlfriend

As Kang, Jonathan Majors was being lined up as the MCU's new big bad and one of Hollywood's biggest stars. Instead, he's potentially facing prison and his defence has been hit by yet another setback today.

It's been less than 24 hours since a New York judge rejected Loki star Jonathan Majors' request to have the domestic violence case files against him thrown out. Now, the actor is facing yet another setback after the Manhattan District Attorney confirmed (via Deadline) that his accuser won't be prosecuted.

While Grace Jabbari was arrested on charges of assault and criminal mischief, the decision has been made to not move forward with any sort of cast against her.

Majors filed a domestic violence counter-complaint against his ex-girlfriend in June and, had she been prosecuted, it would have obviously been a big win for the actor (if she were prosecuted for assaulting him, it would be easier for Majors' lawyers to make the case that he's the victim).

"The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has officially declined to prosecute the case against Grace Jabbari because it lacks prosecutorial merit," a spokesperson for DA Alvin Bragg said today. "The matter is now closed and sealed."

Jabbari's attorney, Ross Kramer, says, "We are disappointed that Ms. Jabbari had to face an arrest that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office already determined was unwarranted. The DA's Office carefully reviewed all the facts of the case and concluded that Ms. Jabbari was the victim, and not the perpetrator."

"Before we walked into the police precinct, the DA’s Office made clear that they would not be charging Ms. Jabbari with any offense," he added. "It is unfortunate and re-traumatizing when a survivor of intimate partner violence is forced to endure an arrest, but Ms. Jabbari is an extremely strong and resilient person who is determined to move forward."

Majors' lawyer has yet to chime in but this doesn't bode particularly well for the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania star.

The trial will begin on November 29 and Majors potentially faces a year in prison if he's found guilty on these misdemeanour charges. It's previously been reported that NYPD officers who attended the scene of this altercation discovered a number of marks, a laceration, and a finger fracture after Majors' alleged assault on Jabbari. He was subsequently arrested and charged with strangulation, assault, and harassment.

Marvel Studios has largely dodged questions about Majors' MCU future and remain pretty much the only studio still in business with him. It appears they're waiting to see how the trial goes because, if he is found innocent, then why can't he continue playing Kang?

Of course, some will argue that the damage has been done based on the accusations alone but it will be down to Disney to decide how they proceed in the weeks ahead.

@Usernametaken - actually, I was being sarcastic

Bragg is pretty universally despised in NYC right now. This may actually be his attempt at an ‘out’ on all of that 🤷‍♂️

Those lawyers and Majors PR team are running out of shitty tactics.

Clock's ticking.

@TheClunges - That’s that privilege on full show for the world to see.

The hoe got cheated on, and this is her revenge. She knew like they all do that accusing a black man of DV will always fly.

@FireandBlood - 💯! even though that hoe doesn't deserve her feelings spared, I can't help but feel he should of held off on getting the goodies from good.

At first jabozo was trying to get him back but now he's moved on that bitch is gonna be vengeful like a mf.

@regularmovieguy - straight after the altercation, she was messaging trying to get him back etc. She literally was saying it's her fault and how she loves him.

Since then he has showed up to court with megan good, do you think jabozo is still gonna stand by him?

And as for the witnesses the cab driver saw her attacking him and he had scratches but it appears that now means nothing.

@TheClunges - Apparently if you are the accuser you can indeed make this shit up with little to no repercussions.

@TheClunges @HashTagSwagg

It’s going to trial, man. You guys can speculate all you want but this has been an uphill battle for Majors ever since his lawyer said those same texts exonerated him when they did not read like that at all.

Ever since they’ve said there’s new evidence he’s innocent and have failed to provide it.

This past month is really all we’ve heard from the DA. And they sound damn confident in our case. If it turns out Jabarri is awful, too, then say what you want. If Majors is innocent the trial should be a breeze.

@regularmovieguy - “our case”? Are you on the team?

Going to trial isn’t a conviction. It’s trial. Typically at the end of a trial is where you find either a conviction or an acquittal.

Why must you people keep jumping to conclusions based on accusations?

I’m not jumping to any conclusions. Nothing I said there was wrongX

“You guys are jumping to conclusions” proceeds to jump to conclusions himself.

@philinterrupted

All I've said is that his defense since the beginning has been sketchy, lmao. They literally doctored character statements for the Rolling Stone article on him. They've said he'd be exonerated from the beginning because they have airtight evidence he's innocent (we haven't seen it).

These are facts btw. It doesn't look good for him.

@regularmovieguy - like we discussed two days ago, this was always going to trial re: MCV

There are a number of ways to read the past 60 days but I HAVE to start with the fact that it was in fact the DA who needed the first continuance at the August date because they claimed not to be ready to present their case

I am going to speculate, and I want to emphasize that point, that Jabbari fled to the UK when Chaudrhey began spinning about the I-Card and retained a lawyer who then negotiated with the prosecutors. The DA has NO case without Jabbari in the actual courtroom testifying, which leads me to believe that her own lawyer negotiated a proto-immunity deal wherein she would be arrested (because Chaudrhey can appeal later if they glanced a blind eye over the Rolex and CC charges) but immediately dropped.

This, plus the fact that the prosecution went on-record yesterday and stated that NY taxpayers would be footing the ride for Jabbari’s flight and housing during the trial (REALLY gotta wonder if lawyers’ fees were thrown in there for good measure), tells me that Jabbari’s UK lawyer and Bragg’s office negotiated her showing up to court.

This would also explain the constant reminders about the protective order to Majors back in warly summer (trying to demo to Jabbari that they had her interests in-mind)

SauronthePower - 10/26/2023, 4:13 PM
@regularmovieguy - one thing I have been meaning to add is that the DA’s case seems pretty suspect in that they SEEM to have been leaning on old, anecdotal evidence and past events (probably to paint a character portrayal) as opposed to evidence on the night of the incident. This generally (but not always) indicates a thin case footing.

The fact that they seem to be fishing for a supposed DV incident from last September in London seems like they are leaning VERY hard on pattern behavior as opposed to what concretely happened on March 25
