MARVEL ZOMBIES Rumor Claims To Reveal Identity Of New Moon Knight And It's A Shocker - SPOILERS

A new rumour for Marvel Zombies has started doing the rounds online which claims to reveal which unexpected character will be the new Fist of Khonshu in the upcoming Marvel Animation series. Check it out!

Marvel Zombies was first announced at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con as part of Marvel Studios' splashy "Marvel Animation" slate reveal. We've heard very little since then, and while the show is in the late stages of production, there's no official word on whether it will be released this year or if it'll slip down the release calendar.

We recently told you that Mahershala Ali will lend his voice to Blade in the animated series. The actor made his MCU debut in Eternals' post-credits scene and, with the Daywalker's solo outing no closer to being released in theaters, it's likely in Marvel Zombies that we'll get to see the Oscar-winner's take on Blade for the first time.

However, it won't necessarily be the "classic" Blade we all know and love from the comics.

According to scooper @CanWeGetToast (via Toonado.com), the plan is for Blade to be the new Fist of Khonshu in Marvel Zombies, making him the new Moon Knight. This sounds like a crazy idea, but the vampire hunter is a solid fit to do Khonshu's bidding in a world overrun by the undead.

We'd assume this means Blade is getting a new look and this was likely done to differentiate the character from what we'll see when that live-action solo outing finally arrives in theaters next year (or, more likely, 2026 now Marvel Studios has Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four dated for 2025).

The animated series reimagines the Marvel Universe as a new generation of heroes battle against an ever-spreading zombie scourge.

When Marvel Zombies was announced, character art revealed that a team consisting of Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Yelena Belova, Jimmy Woo, Death Dealer, Red Guardian, and Katy will clash with undead Variants of Ikaris, Abomination, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Okoye, Ghost, and Captain America.

In the comic books, the concept of these undead superheroes started as a five-issue limited series first published in 2005. The series was written by Robert Kirkman (who would later create The Walking Dead) with art by Sean Phillips and covers by Arthur Suydam.

The story was set in an alternate universe where the world's superhero population has been infected with a virus which turned them into zombies. The series was spun out of a story arc in the pages of Ultimate Fantastic Four, where the zombie Reed Richards tricked his Ultimate counterpart into opening a portal to the zombie universe only for the latter to prevent the former from ever coming to his universe.

While the concept originates in the comics, it wasn't until What If...? season 1 that Marvel Studios finally put the spotlight on undead superheroes. In an episode titled "What If... Zombies?!" we watched as several fan-favourite heroes, including Spider-Man, fought off undead a whole host of undead fan-favourites.

How do you feel about Blade serving as the MCU's new Moon Knight in this alternate reality?

He's a day walker. How is he the perfect fit for moon knight?

Disney continuing to mess it all up.

But ever since the wrong info on F4 actors, mttsh and cwgst have lost their credibility

Sounds fun if true and makes sense if the world is now overrun by the undead in that universe (maybe Marc died in this reality and then Khonshu took over Blade?).

Anyway , it is an odd strategy though in that we have only been introduced to the MCU Blade as an offscreen voice in The Eternals and now we’ll get introduced to a variant of his without even seeing the proper version yet.

I’m assuming due to the unforeseen production problems and delays due to the strike & pandemic that this wasn’t the initial plan so hope it works out.

@TheVisionary25 - I think they're banking on audience being familiar with the character already similar to throwing Spider-Man into Civil War.

What if Feige was never really that good, it was just that RDJ, Evans and company were really good actors with really good directors?

@Mother[frick]erJon - I think the disconnect on quality is likely a consequence of his promotion. More responsibility makes it harder to do all the things you used to and that includes quality control over every single project. I more feel that he didn't setup his team with the same passion as he had.

I also think Disney saw how much End Game made and was thinking Marvel was the best way to bring subscribers to Disney+ which then resulted in a big push for content limiting the ability for oversight with so many projects being greenlit.

Very interested to see if they can right the ship. Igers comments might be supportive of that fact but I also fear he's just hitting talking points as the Rey movies still seem to be happening and I genuinely don't know anyone interested in that

@Mother[frick]erJon - maybe Feige just doesn't have his fingers as deeply into these movies as all the fanboys believe...

but to his defense, people booed iron man 1 when rdj and favreau were first tied to it and then praised it when it came out... then shit on im2 with the same people.. and im3... maybe you just can't please all the people all the time... even if im3 blew the others away at the box office.

i would argue avengers 2 is greater than avengers 1 but i am in the minority. some people love moon knight and others say oscar isaac it horrible... same for wandavision, FATWS, SheHulk, etc... to each their own.

The movies in general are given too much budget and we expect too much out of them... it would be nigh impossible to have a stellar track record forever with these shows/movies given the changing roster of actors and directors.

compare the movie quality and interconnected storylines prior to the MCU being established and after and i think overall the MCU has moved the bar leagues above where it was... and considering how many others fail trying to replicate their success and i think that points to how hard it is.

i have yet to see anyone from the comic book comments section move into feige's role... if they were really capable of it in the first place. they have the patience of a gnat and that's not what it takes to build something still going after 2+ decades.

Blade as Moon Knight? Not sure about that.

Why couldn’t they have just given us an animated adaptation of the Marvel Zombies book? DC is still light years ahead of Marvel in animation.

Couldn't we have both Blade and Moon Knight fighting Zombies? With that idea, I would probably get a promotion.

Frank Castle would have been cooler, but Blade is nice too.
