Ms. Marvel wrapped-up its first season this past Wednesday with an exciting finale that featured more than one major surprise, and Disney+ has now shared a new promo spotlighting Bruno's game-changing revelation along with the Captain Marvel-centric post-credits scene.
In the closing moments of the episode, Bruno explained that the bangle only activated Kamala's dormant powers, which are actually the result of a "mutation" in her genes. Though the young hero is not actually referred to as a mutant, the classic X-Men Animated Series theme left little room for doubt.
Then, in a post-credits stinger setting up next year's The Marvels, we see Kamala switch places with Carol Danvers (Brie Larson), with Captain Marvel ending up in Khan's bedroom, and Ms. Marvel presumably transported to another planet.
Though the spot only runs for about 15 seconds, you can revisit both of these massive moments below.
During a recent Reddit AMA, star Iman Vellani was asked about the retcon, which hasn't gone over particularly well with everyone - especially fans of The Inhumans!
“Don’t get me wrong, I love the Inhumans, Black Bolt is my father," said the actress. "But I do think the MCU is in a very different place than the comics were and so we were actually able to go this way with Kamala.”
"Ms. Marvel is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City," reads the show's updated synopsis. "An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"
Ms. Marvel stars Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli, Azhar Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha.
