Ms. Marvel arrives on Disney+ late next year, and a synopsis for the highly anticipated series has now been revealed following the release of that sizzle reel.
It's said that the show focuses "on fan-favorite Kamala Khan - a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, avid gamer, and voracious fan-fic scribe, Kamala has a special affinity for Super Heroes, particularly Captain Marvel. However, Kamala struggles to fit in at home and at school — that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she’s always looked up to."
The synopsis concludes with the tease, "Life is easier with super powers, right?"
Joining Iman Vellan Vellani in Ms. Marvel are Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Nimra Bucha. There's no word on who they're playing, but Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah, Meera Menon, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy have been confirmed as the show's directors.
While that first look at the show didn't reveal very much, an intriguing Easter Egg has been spotted. Kamala has drawn a man she describes as "Cool Guy" who it's fair to say looks a lot like Inhumans villain Maximus the Mad. We're not sure what he's holding on to, but the logo on his chest is the same as the one from the character's classic costume, while the jacket matches his modern look.
It's previously been rumoured that Vin Diesel has been cast as Black Bolt, while Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been cast as Maximus. We'll just have to wait and see!
