All eyes are understandably on Obi-Wan Kenobi today, but a couple of days before that show's fourth episode hits Disney+, Ms. Marvel will premiere on the streaming platform.
In the following TV spot for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe-set adventure, we see more of young Kamala Khan in action. Her abilities are undeniably impressive, and while they certainly pay homage to the comic books, it's clear that we won't see anything fully resembling Ms. Marvel's "embiggening" powers.
Several people involved with the show, including Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and star Iman Vellani, have defended the switch up, but it's one of the biggest departures from the source material we've seen for a character in the MCU.
Still, Ms. Marvel does look pretty cool, and those social media reactions were positive enough that some alterations to the hero's abilities clearly have no bearing on the quality of the show itself. We have to give Marvel Studios the benefit of the doubt at this stage, and with so much talk of Kamala's new powers being key to the MCU's future, there has to be a good reason for the change.
Ms. Marvel premieres on Disney+ in June 8!
