SECRET INVASION Character Posters Leave Us Wondering If There's Anyone In The MCU We Can Trust

With less than a month to go until Secret Invasion arrives on Disney+, Marvel Studios has released a new batch of character posters making it clear that we can't be sure anyone is who they claim to be...

Marvel Studios has released a new batch of character posters for Secret Invasion, featuring the Disney+ series' lead characters. However, it's unclear who we can trust as each of their profiles is mixed up with that of a Skrull.

We know some of them are definitely shape-shifting aliens, of course, but is it possible the likes of Rhodey and Ross are imposters?

On the posters, we see Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), G'iah (Emilia Clarke), Colonel "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle), Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman), Everett Ross (Martin Freeman), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir), Charlayne Woodard, and an unknown actor.

Secret Invasion is going to be an espionage thriller that only really borrows the name of the comic book it's based on. Whether it will be a game-changer for the wider MCU is hard to say, though Fury will return in The Marvels

Check out this new look at Secret Invasion below.

In Secret Invasion, set in the present-day MCU, Nick Fury learns of a clandestine invasion of Earth by a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls. Fury joins his allies, including Everett Ross, Maria Hill and the Skrull Talos, who has made a life for himself on Earth. Together they race against time to thwart an imminent Skrull invasion and save humanity.

The show stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Charlayne Woodard, Killian Scott, Samuel Adewunmi, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher McDonald, Katie Finneran, with Emilia Clarke and Olivia Colman, and Don Cheadle.

Secret Invasion arrives on Disney+ on June 21!

I'm really, really hoping this series turns out to be as good as it looks to be at this point.

@Mugens - What if the plot twist is Nick futy has been one the whole time.

@pitbull76 - That would explain a lot considering we have seen a “youthful” Fury this time including working with the skrulls on the “sword” space station at the end of no way home. This older looking Fury in the trailers for secret invasion may actually be the real Fury where the one we have been watching all this time has been a skrull

@pitbull76 - that be fantastic have fans not see it coming

@Vampyre75 - I just thought of it but you explained it a lot better and makes sense.Im not really a fan of marvel series on Disney plus but I'm for sure watching this.In fact is it if going to be a series with episode or movie?

pitbull76 - 5/22/2023, 8:21 AM
@dragon316 - Yea I mean the plot is him trying to figure out who is a invader? Now I can't remember do they actually talked a person body over or just they can mimic you?

@pitbull76 - That's cool but why would he put a team together like The Avengers?
Radders
Radders - 5/22/2023, 8:39 AM
@marvel72 - my thoughts exactly, if Fury is one, they have to explain the relevance of his actions else its just a meaningless decision purely for shock value
marvel72
marvel72 - 5/22/2023, 8:44 AM
@Radders - There would be other things like the events that happened in The Winter Soldier.

@pitbull76 - I've been saying this for months. But I feel like he doesn't know he's one. His memory was wiped or something.

I have high hopes for this, but with only 6 episodes i hope it's not rushed. I do love the inspiration is from Cap TWS, which is the best movie marvel has ever put out.

@MotherGooseUPus -
6 episodes is good. No filler, just the good stuff.

" I do love the inspiration is from Cap TWS, which is the best movie marvel has ever put out" @MotherGooseUPus

I'm seeing that a lot lately, that sentiment. Not just from fans, but as an official talking point and reference from people connected with this project as well. And I'm like: " Wasn't The Falcon & The Winter Soldier also a show inspired by Captain America: The Winter Soldier's tone?"

How has that tv show, which only recently came out, been forgotten as a positive reference point when The Winter Soldier movie came out in 2014 9 years ago? You, as well as people in the production, reference it as if it's the only thing in that lineage. Not Civil War, not The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, but just...The Winter Soldier...

@videovac - i'm just a fan so not sure why i'm getting lumped in. Cap TWS is the best thing marvel has put out. Cap CW is top 5 best MCU movies.

With that said i dont talk about TFATWS as that show was dogshit. It was supposed to be like Cap TWS and was just a massive let down... so i think that is why no one talks about it, becuz it sucked... and while we're at it, i'm very worried about the new Cap/Falcon movie as it has the same writers as the show and like i said, i thought it was awful, and this is coming from someone who loves the Cap movies and had high expectations

@MotherGooseUPus - sorry to be so late with my reply but I wholeheartedly agree with you there. I think k The Winter Soldier is one of the best comic book movies ever (not high praise) and The Falcon tv show is nowhere near close to it in quality.

@MotherGooseUPus - and for the record, I was the one up-vote that your first comment had.

Based on how epic the comic series was, I hope we get some cool surprises of people we’ve known for a while that are skrulls.

The only big MCU characters that we know that are in it are Fury, Hill, Rhodey, and Everett Ross right?
MotherGooseUPus
MotherGooseUPus - 5/22/2023, 12:42 PM
@mountainman - as far as i know yes
mountainman
mountainman - 5/22/2023, 2:04 PM
@MotherGooseUPus - They could have some surprises up their sleeves, but that feels a bit small. Outside of any of those being Skrulls, the others are going to be in governments or other powerful positions. It does feel very similar to HYDRA in Winter Soldier. Hopefully this has enough to stand on its own.

@mountainman - i hope so cuz they need a win. Haven't had a real good D+ show since Loki. Werewolf was great but that was a special. And i havent seen GoTG Vol3 yet, but i heard that was a much needed win

mountainman - 5/22/2023, 2:21 PM
@MotherGooseUPus - Agreed that Werewolf was awesome! My favorite D+ Marvel content yet. And yeah the shows have really struggled after starting off mostly strong.

This looks good. I hope it delivers. And I hope Loki S 2 can maintain the quality of the first.

To GOTG3 - I’ve been mostly disappointed with post Endgame MCU and that movie was my favorite Guardians movie and one of my overall favorite MCU movies.

I agree they need more wins, because I think that The Marvels and Echo are both going to not do well.

@mountainman - Loki and Wandavision are by FAR the best shows and both my favs.

I agree on Loki S2 but am worried with the Majors ordeal going on at the moment.

I loved the first one and did not like Vol2. I don't like them as much as most people on this site but i will be seeing this very soon so i can judge, but, im glad to hear its a good Post Endgame movie.

Agreed on both that movie and show doing awful

mountainman - 5/23/2023, 8:48 AM
@MotherGooseUPus - WandaVision and Loki are also my favorites. I hope S2 can live up to S1.

I didn’t mind GOTG2. More stupid humor, but the character relationships were better. I did find 3 the best of the trilogy, simply because it nailed some character moments.

@mountainman - good to know. hopefully i can see Vol3 soon i've had no time to see it since it came out. i think we agree on most MCU movies so i think ill like it... especially as im going in with no expectations
mountainman
mountainman - 5/23/2023, 11:37 AM
@MotherGooseUPus - Yeah it’s always good to temper expectations. The last time I was hyped entering an MCU movie (Dr Strange 2) I was let down. I think I went into this one with low expectations based on how disappointing most Post-Endgame MCU has been to me.

This show looks so promising, best Disney plus show since WandaVision or Werewolf By Night if you include Special Presentation.

At one point I would have joked that they should use the Skrulls as an in-universe excuse why Rhodey and Bruce's faces were different at the start of Phase 1, but after She-Hulk I'm not sure the MCU would handle that kind of meta-reference well.

And honestly, I really hope they don't undo Rhodey's paralysis by revealing he's a Skrull. I use a wheelchair myself, and it's cool that they integrated his spinal cord injury so naturally that no one--on either side--is making a big deal about the fact that Armor Wars will star a disabled superhero.

I never thought highly of Marvel Studios or Kevin Feige, but man Marvel Studios has fallen off. If you're D-list characters are your A-list, then who are your D-list? Who gives a f_ck about any of these guys? Where are the X-Men?
