A new trailer for Marvel Studios' Secret Invasion is set to debut later tonight during Sunday Night Baseball on ESPN, and Disney+ has now shared the first official poster for what's been described as a "game-changing espionage thriller."

The artwork spotlights Samuel L. Jackson as the returning Nick Fury, along with the tagine, "who do you trust?"

Could the former S.H.I.E.L.D. director turn out to be a Skrull? Unlikely, but we wouldn't be surprised if at least one established MCU character is revealed to be one of the alien sleeper agents by the end of the series!

During a recent interview, Jackson explained why the Skrulls felt the need to take such drastic measures following the events of Captain Marvel.

“They kept their word. They worked for him, but he hasn't done what he said he was going to do. They want a home. They want to live. They want to live in their skin. They don't want to live in ours.”

Check out the poster below.

Secret Invasion "follows Nick Fury as he uncovers a conspiracy to install double-agents into positions of power around the world: shapeshifting green-skinned extra-terrestrials known as Skrulls, who can perfectly simulate any human being at will."

The series also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Cobie Smulders, Martin Freeman, Emilia Clarke, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, and is set to premiere on June 21.

Well, If you paid attention that Nick Fury and Agent Hill both have been Skrulls since at least Infinity War.

Why? Because in the post credits scene for IW just before they see the car in front of them crash Hill calls Fury “Nick”, and Fury said in Captain Marvel that nobody calls him Nick. They always call him Fury.

@TyrantBossMedia - I don't think those two were The Skrulls. Because only Fury had the beeper to call Carol. I think Fury and Hill at the funeral we're Talos and his wife because of a line they said in Far From Home. "I saw you at the funeral but didn't think it would be appropriate". It also makes sense because if Fury was working with Talos in space, Wouldn't Carol have looked there first?

@SonOfAGif - Unless Fury gave his pager to Talos so as to maintain the ruse. As Stark said he is “THE Spy, His secrets have secrets.”
That way Carol would look for Fury on Earth where she would expected to find him.

@TyrantBossMedia - Could be. I guess we have to wait and see with The Marvels the type of oversight Fury has had since Age of Ultron because I can't imagine him being a commander or co-commander of that ship without having his own team of Space Avengers. We saw in Wandavision he specifically requested Monica to come to him. So he has had to have had Carol at least in cahoots with his space division. What do you think?

TyrantBossMedia - 4/2/2023, 1:32 PM
@SonOfAGif - Interesting. I didn’t take that scene in Wandavision to mean that Fury asked for Monica but Carol did, but now that you mention it Fury asking makes more sense since he is on that space station.

Maybe he has developed a sort of SHIELD faction in space.
I may have missed it but was S.W.O.R.D. already addressed in the MCU?
If not may be what Fury is creating with Carol.

SonOfAGif - 4/2/2023, 5:18 PM
@TyrantBossMedia - Yes. S.W.O.R.D was established in Wandavision. They were the ones working on Vision and wanted Wanda Maximoff.

@TyrantBossMedia - But he would have reappeared from the Blip in Endgame, likely choosing to replace himself then. However they were talking about there being Kree on Earth. It's possible this series is SLJ fixing his mistake of implanting the skrulls in the first place, but he's only had since the blip.

LiteraryJoe - 4/2/2023, 6:40 PM
@LiteraryJoe - Also, WHY DID IT TAKE CAROL FIVE YEARS to show up? Assuming she blipped.
TyrantBossMedia
TyrantBossMedia - 4/2/2023, 6:53 PM
@LiteraryJoe - SLJ? I'm not figuring that one out.

So possibly Hill was a Skrull and called Fury "Nick", but then Nick would have realized she is the Skrull since she probably would have called him that before, unless in the shock of the urgent moment she accidentally let it slip.

Or...Both Fury and Hill were Skrulls at the end of Infinity War.

And if that was the case then the Skrulls of them were dusted. So when they came back they were returned where they were to start.
Which begs us to ask, was Fury dusted and where was he when he was dusted. If he was not dusted then I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have sought out the rest of the Avengers amidst the chaos.

And that's a good point about Danvers. It took her five years to show up??
And she couldn't have been dusted because she received the page from Fury at the end of IW.
The Undusting took place after the five years and after she had already shown up to the Avengers Compound.

They really screwed things up with the five years later it and introducing the Skrulls so soon.

@SonOfAGif - That's right. I forgot about that. I feel that may have been another missed opportunity.

Think I might hold off until the show gets here in June. The Disney + shows hit different when you watch one trailer.

Check it. If there’s only one bad ep, and one questionable one, in the next D+ show, I’ll sign back up. Gonna have to check the CBM consensus of course

Off topic somewhat, but I saw this recently on Twitter and thought it looked good.

I would not mind seeing in Secret Wars a version of Captain Marvel played by Elizabeth Olsen

@regularmovieguy - Never say never. It’s carte Blanche when you are dealing with the multiverse.

But I don’t find it likely, yet she still looks damn good as Captain Marvel.

Kind of off topic? But has anyone been watching season 3 of Picard??

They seem to be doing their own secret invasion story line with the advanced changelings. Such an improvement over the previous seasons.

@UniqNo - it's amazing! It's like ds9 writing with tng acting, Terry Matalas needs to run the whole brand from now on. Kurtzman is a phony and he always has been lol

Sabre81 - 4/2/2023, 4:31 PM
@UniqNo - This season has been fantastic! Loving each and every episode. It is a similar plot like Secret Invasion, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and even almost a throwback to a season 1 TNG episode called 'Conspiracy' when a parasite like alien race were secretly taking over High Command in Starfleet.

Been great seeing the band back together...

UniqNo - 4/3/2023, 3:46 AM
@bobevanz - Yeah, i've not really watched Strange New Worlds and the last season of Discovery was painful to watch but Picard has definitley upped it's Star Trek's game again. It's a shame though as we know it's the last season and the budget looks to have taken a bit of a hit from the previous one with it being shot on set rather than on locations like we saw alot more of in previous one. Don't know much about Matlas, but seems he's also responsible for the first couple eps in season 2 which was not so good.

@Sabre81 - Definitley loving all TNG call back, suttle and obvious. Wonder if Wesley pops up again?
Sabre81
Sabre81 - 4/3/2023, 7:25 AM
@UniqNo - He could well do. Good seeing him last time doing his 'Traveller' business lol But it would have to be important and organic to the excellent story we're having now. Don't want a shoehorn or have him come in as some Deus Ex Machina cop out to the plot. Forgot this was the last season so hopefully a nice swan song for the old crew.

I see what you were saying to bobevanz there. I watched Strange New Worlds and thought it was certainly entertaining. Especially trying to get back to the feel of week-to-week adventures unlike most shows these days where you MUST see an episode before going onto the next. I gave up on Discovery at the end of season 3. And that was me giving it a wide, wide birth lol Show just never worked for me and if it wasn't for Jason Isaacs or Michelle Yeoh, might have given up sooner. I watched three episode of Lower deck and was disgusted. No for me.

This season's Picard is me loving Star Trek again...instead of just rewatching TNG and DS9 on Netflix :-)
UniqNo
UniqNo - 4/3/2023, 8:27 AM
@Sabre81 - Discovery started off as something completely different but all the issues with Fuller and the leadership there just tore it apart before it even aired. It's a shame though as those early episodes that he's probably responsible for are what really drew me in with that different feel of how it was preoduced.

Yeah i did have the first episode of SNW on in the background but didn't give it a fair shot. With season 1 available i think i'll check in on my next weekend off. We're so spoilt for choice these days with content though that i feel like i need to plan well in advance. haha
Sabre81
Sabre81 - 4/3/2023, 9:04 AM
@UniqNo - Definitely give SNW a shot. I didn't even start it as was going to wait until the first season was over (like you said, TOO MUCH CONTENT!) then my cousin said to me halfway through to get on it right away as he was loving it. Didn't listen to him, of course, and waited until it was over and enjoyed at my pwn pace. Turns out, binged it quite quickly as it was certainly enjoyable. Think season 2 is around June like last year so you have plenty of time for a catch up. Hey, move it into you allocated 'Picard' viewing time slot when that ends in a few weeks lol See? All works out.
