SECRET INVASION Set Photos Tease Role For War Machine And Reveal The MCU's New U.S. President

In the latest round of photos from the set of Secret Invasion, we see what appears to be an alien creature and learn of a possible role in the Disney+ series for the Armoured Avenger, War Machine...

Another round of photos from the set of Secret Invasion have surfaced, and one even appears to show what looks like an alien squid! We're not sure what it is, to be honest, but an even more interesting reveal comes in a shot of a newspaper that spotlights a familiar face from the wider MCU.

As you can see, a copy of The National Reporter features a headline that reads, "President Ritson In London For Emergency Talks." We're assuming this has something to do with the Skrull invasion of Earth and the chaos they've thrown the planet into with various political manoeuvres (the Disney+ series has previously been described as an espionage thriller).

Look closely and you'll notice that the President is being met by Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, a.k.a. War Machine.

Is it the real Rhodey or a Skrull imposter? That promises to be part of the fun of this series, while President Rison - who isn't based on a character from the comic books as far as we can tell - may also have a noteworthy role to play here. Don't hold us to this, but that looks an awful lot like actor Dermot Mulroney, best known for starring in New Girl, The Purge, and Arrested Development.

Hopefully, our first official look at Secret Invasion isn't too far off. With Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk all on the way this year, it could be a while before any more is revealed, unfortunately.

Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.

I wonder whatever happened to President Ellis after his term. Was he president during the Superhero Civil War? Was Ritson his V.P.?

@BobGarlen - we don't really know what timeline is of presidents, but if Ellis was president since 2012 I guess Ritson could've succeeded him right after

Was kinda hoping the title of the article was a misdirect and Rhodey was gonna be the president. Still hope he ends up being though. Think it could fun to see him sneak off doing War Machine shit while in office in Armor Wars

@bkmeijer - no joke, I genuinely think that would make for a compelling as [frick] arc for Rhodey in a comic. The Armored President. That is actually a cool concept.
