Last week, Marvel Studios held the global press conference for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, and we were on hand to report back with all the biggest new reveals and details.
Tatiana Maslany (Jennifer Walters), Ginger Gonzaga (Nikki), Director Kat Coiro, and Head Writer Jessica Gao were present at the event, and we posed a question to Ginger about her role as She-Hulk's best friend. A newly created character for the MCU, Nikki is a lot of fun to watch in the show, and we wondered what she enjoyed most about exploring her dynamic with Jen.
"I love, first of all, that they’re female friends who actually care about each other and love each other and have some sense of emotional maturity to their life," the actor told us. "But also, it’s a really good balance because Jen is kind of by the book. She’s safe. She knows what she’s doing with her life and she has all these goals."
"Nikki is just very reckless and free, but in a fun way, you know? So, I can kinda light fires and I can encourage Jen to become She-Hulk, which is why, if She-Hulk ever saves the world, you can actually thank her good friend, Nikki," Gonzaga continues. "There is, behind every superhero, a catalyst best friend that’s encouraging you to get in a lot of trouble."
"Nikki’s love language to Jen is always trying to make her laugh...nothing is too serious for Nikki. She thinks she can get out of any situation, especially if she has a six-foot-seven superhero as a friend. 'Listen, my friend will clean up the pieces. I just get the party started.'"
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law isn't a typical superhero series, and actually does a great job exploring the title character's life both as a lawyer and someone dealing with everyday trials and tribulations. We'll be sharing our review tomorrow, but be sure to check back here soon for more intel from this press conference, including comments on She-Hulk's fourth wall breaks in the series.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law premieres on Disney+ on August 18.
