SHE-HULK Director Kat Coiro On Daredevil's Involvement: "He's Going To Be A Crowd Favorite"

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law director Kay Coiro has shared some new details on the Disney+ series, including the involvement of a certain Man Without Fear. She also addresses the show's fourth wall-breaks.

The San Diego Comic-Con trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law confirmed the persistent rumor that Daredevil will appear in the show by giving us a quick glimpse of the Man Without Fear flipping over the Emerald Amazon in his updated red and yellow costume.

The Devil of Hell's Kitchen will once again be played by Charlie Cox (who made his MCU debut in Spider-Man: No Way Home), but short of that, we still don't know very much about the character's role in the upcoming Disney+ series.

Writer Jessica Gao and star Tatiana Maslany have both dropped a few hints in recent interviews, and director Kat Coiro has now weighed in.

"They match each other's wits, is what I can say," Coiro told EW when asked if she could reveal any new details on Daredevil's involvement. "I am definitely excited for Daredevil to make his appearance, because I think he's going to be a crowd favorite. But I can't tell you anything else about that. The Marvel police is a real thing and I don't want to get arrested by them."

So, still not a whole lot to go on here, but it certainly sounds like both heroes will have a connection. A previous rumor claimed that Cox would actually only factor into a single episode, but that remains to be seen.

Coiro also spoke about Jennifer Walters' fourth wall-breaks and if it's something we'll see throughout the entirely of the season.

"A huge part of the She-Hulk comics is her breaking the fourth wall and taking control of her narrative and being in charge of her own story. She was doing it way before Fleabag or Deadpool. She was doing it back in 1980. All I can say is it's a huge part of the comics and we honor the comics."

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law follows Jennifer Walters as she navigates the complicated life of a single, 30-something attorney who also happens to be a green 6-foot-7-inch superpowered hulk. The nine-episode series welcomes a host of MCU vets, including Mark Ruffalo as Smart Hulk, Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination, and Benedict Wong as Wong. The cast also includes Ginger Gonzaga, Josh Segarra, Jameela Jamil, Jon Bass and Renée Elise Goldsberry. Executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum, Kat Coiro and Jessica Gao. Co-executive producers are Wendy Jacobson and Jennifer Booth.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is set to premiere on Disney+ on August 17.

There's a lot of ill-will towards this show when everything I've seen thus far seems to be honoring the comics in every way.

I don't get the hate. Even the CG doesn't look all that bad to me.

I wonder if she'll spend time going over Matt's briefs.

Off topic: Anyone else following this insanity going on with Stallone? https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/movies/story/2022-08-01/sylvester-stallone-rocky-spinoff-drago

The only hang up IMO is the CGI, specifically for the title character. I don't understand how the cgi looks so different between Bruce and Jen. Bruce looks great, Jen however looks like a video game. I don't know if it has something to do with the female characteristics not translating aswell in CGI or what..but it looks like it could have been better to just paint her face green and CGI the body.

Please just give us some idea that this isn't a direct continuation of Netflix DD, got too many people in the DD Reddit Sub foaming at the mouth at me for even suggesting Feige and Marvel want to do their own thing

@JakeyChappers - Just stop talking to people on Reddit. nothing good ever comes out of that.

@WEAPONXOXOXO - I kinda want Deadpool 3 to open with him just going through all of the MCU movies, showing that he was always there, but just off-screen.

@bkmeijer1 - like they did with Secret Wars. That would be awesome!

Honestly my theory is he will show up only on the last episode, and what we saw on the trailer is already half his total screentime.

Looking forward to DD more than She Hulk but I’m excited to see this show.

@slickrickdesigns - So nice they're staying true to his suit, just changing the colors and reducing the texture, at least thus far.

Can't wait to see the next suit.

Still not a fan of the armored suit. That Freshman Year fan art made me want to see Matt wear this in live action.

But as long as they don't [frick] up the mask again like DD season 1, I can live with it. Matt just looks better in something more form fitting imo.

@GhostDog - They’ve already made good in story reason for an armored suit. I would like one that looks more streamlined though and still be armored. Color wise I’d like to see it look more like the comics too as in more of a deep, dark red.

@RolandD - yea the armor does make sense. I wish it was more sleek like TDK armor plating at the very least. Hugged Matt better. Not so clunky and heavy.

Oh he better be. Kingpin's last appearance has me concenred, I know some people liked it, but it just didn't work for me. I'm hoping they do better and approach it more carefully.

@Fares - I always thought D'Onofrio's take on Fisk was kind of hit and miss, so I wasn't shocked when I didn't love his MCU soft-rebooted version.

But Cox's take on Matt has been *chef's kiss* from the very first scene, so I'm a lot more confident here. He's already done an incredible range of emotional tones in Daredevil and was pitch perfect every time.
Fares
Fares - 8/3/2022, 11:06 AM
@Spock0Clock - Yeah I can see that. D'Onofrio's Fisk can be peculiar in certain moments. I personally was never bothered by it even if it seemed strange to me at times, it's more the direction and presentation that they've chosen for his character in Hawkeye that I didn't jive with. As comic accurate as it might be, it just didn't work for me. So I'm concerned with what kind of direction they're taking with Daredevil here. Finger's crossed.

@Spock0Clock - my big issue with D'Onfrio is whilst he definitely looks the part, I've always been irritated by how he strains his voice way too much in order to make it sound deeper and imposing, when in reality his natural voice is much lighter in tone. Just comes across as a bit silly.

How do we get people to watch a shitty She-Hulk show? By throwing Daredevil and the Hulk in of course!
