Many details on the upcoming second season of Fox’s X-Men series The Gifted have been kept under wraps but more info will likely come out soon, as the show is set to have a presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.

Still, fans likely have a fairly good idea of what the story will be for Season 2, as the cast of mutant and human characters will deal with the fallout of the Season 1 finale and the rift between the members of the Mutant Underground that saw characters like Polaris side with the Hellfire Club.

Fortunately, if your currently anxious to get a taste of what’s to come, you won't have to wait too long as the series will return September 25, at 8 p.m EDT. Also, the network has shared some awesome new character posters that highlight the various main characters.

Polaris & Eclipse

When we last saw Emma Dumont and Sean Teale’s characters, Polaris had used her abilities to take down a plane and kill its passengers, joining the likes of the Stepford Cuckoos and leaving her significant other behind. How the couple will deal with this schism and Lorna’s pregnancy remains to be seen.

The Strucker Kids

During the first few episodes of The Gifted it seemed as if Andy and Lauren Strucker were just ordinary mutants, but as the season unfolded we quickly learned about the Strucker family history and The Fenris Twins, who like Andy and Lauren could combine their abilities to disastrous effect. That said, it may be a while before the two team up, as Andy is currently with Polaris and The Hellfire Club.

Reed & Caitlin

Despite facing a number of hardships, the heads of the Strucker family may have actually seen their relationship grow stronger, as they adapted to their new status as fugitives. However, with Andy going rogue they will likely face new challenges.

Blink & Thunderbird

After beginning the first season as a reluctant member of the Mutant Underground, Blink eventually embraced her role after tragedy struck close to home and even started a romantic relationship with Thunderbird toward the end of the season. However, whether we'll see another one of Clarice's relationships affected by the mutant hate group the Purifiers, remains to be seen.

The Stepford Cuckoos & Jace Turner

As part of a series that seemed loosely connected to the X-Men and the Brotherhood, Skyler Samuels role as The Stepford Cuckoos Esme, Sophie and Phoebe wound up be a big surprise, especially since she helped introduce the Hellfire Club and hinted at popular characters like Emma Frost and Magneto himself.

The 20th Century Fox Television/Marvel series picks up after the explosion of the Atlanta Station. The Mutant Underground search for their friends and family who left with The Inner Circle. Having tracked them outside of Washington, D.C., they must contend with new groups with extreme ideologies, both human and mutant alike, to stave off a brewing conflict.

@AngryCipher - She's great and the actor is killing it (once she got out of the shackles), but she doesn't really feel like Lorna to me. More like Magneto Jr.

@Spock0Clock - That is true. I guess i could see it if her father and sister and all of genosha were burned, but i agree she is not lorna.

I like to think of her as a sort of third sibling if she ever came to the mcu.

@AngryCipher - About fifteen minutes after I made that comment below I started watching it, now on episode two and it's pretty good to be fair, definitely surpassed my expectations.

If Disney do get Fox's assets I think it'd be a good idea to use the show as an introduction to mutants in the MCU. It'll be easier to bring a new cast of X-Men into the MCU because the show isn't really connected to the previous films. It sort of exists in its own world.

I haven't seen this but I might give it a go at some point. I know what it's about and if the writer's were really going for some sort of twist with the Strucker family, they didn't exactly succeed. I mean as soon as you hear the name you just know that they're connected to Baron Von Strucker.

Well... these are horrible posters... I like the show, though.

Oh, wait, I just remembered the whole "fusion" gimmick thing they're doing. The posters are playing on that... I get it. I get things.

Enjoyed season 1, looking forward to the second. Nice easy watching, decent story, good actors, for the most part, definitely recommend.

Amy Acker deserved better in the MCU than being Phil's cello-playing side piece.

The Cuckoos were the best thing about the first season and it’s a robbery that they waited so long to use them. Thank god they’re going to have a bigger role now. Hopefully they’ll bring in the other two at some point

I wonder if/when Disney acquires the X-men will this show be part of the MCU or will they treat it like Agent of Shield and the Netflix shows?
(The shows reference the movies but the movies never reference the shows)

@WruceBayne - I can’t see how it would be easy to fold this show into another continuity... it’s pretty deep into its own alternate reality already.

@Chewtoy - yeah your probably right. It’s a lot going on already.

Love all the mutants in the show, but the Struckers need to step up, they're boring.

I love show. It fits the X-men lore so well. So many small things that I like that speaks to the wider world of mutants. The only thing I dont like is ow the story is mostly around the Strucker kids, but thats a minor gripe.

This was my most looked forward to show last year and it will be again this year. This is also a great show to introduce a lot of under used mutant characters that the movies haven't done. Also, since they are doing a whole thing with the Hellfire club and the Inner Circle, I would love to see Selene and by extension Eli Bard as her black bishop (loved his role in Necrosha and all the stuff leading up to it) and Shinobi Shaw as the king (since they've used Sebastian in the movies). Think they would all make excellent dark and manipulative characters to go up against the MRD and the underground. Either way I'm just excited for the next season to start!
