WANDAVISION Disney+ Series Adds DEAR WHITE PEOPLE Actress Teyonah Parris As An Adult Monica Rambeau

While not much was divulged about WandaVision's plot, Kevin Feige did officially reveal the cast who will consist of Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettay and Teyonah Parris as an adult Monica Rambeau.

Marvel Studios revealed today, during their San Diego Comic-Con panel, that Teyonah Parris (Dear White People) has joined the cast of their upcoming Disney+ series, WandaVision, as an adult version of Monica Rambeau.

Rambeau was first introduced in Captain Marvel earlier this year, played by child actress Akira Akbar.

WandaVision will star Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch) and Paul Bettany (Vision) in the lead roles and has been heavily rumored to be set in the 1950s. However, neither Olsen nor Bettany were particularly forthcoming with plot details, but they did strongly imply this will be the wildest project either has ever done.

WANDAVISION

Next, Feige offered the latest on “WandaVision,” a Disney+ original series where Paul Bettany reprises the role of Vision and Elizabeth Olsen returns to her role of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Bettany and Olsen were joined on stage by MCU newcomer Teyonah Parris, and Feige announced that Parris will be playing the grown-up version of Monica Rambeau, who was introduced to audiences in “Captain Marvel.”

“WandaVision” premieres on Disney+ in the spring of 2021.

@Tonic24k - yes she was captain marvel and led the avengers way before Carol danvers did, she hadnt even known Carol in the comics till recent times. Now in the MCU they relegated her to another black sidekick that's what she will become in captain marvel 2, Mark my words.

@MCUKnight11 - Perhap Feige introduces Ultimates as the next new mega franchise.

He's moving further and further away from the traditonal 616 Marvel comics and taking more risks. Some of the new films don't even reference a comic book arc, they are totally original subtitles.

I have no idea what this genius madman will do next lol.

No announcement of Captain Marvel 2 was made, unless i am mistaken.

Though i do think that given the announcement of Monica Rambeau we'll see her take over the role as Captain Marvel fully by the end of Captain Marvel 2.

@Scarilian - Kevin Feige confirmed Captain Marvel 2 just before introducing Blade, he just never confirmed it's release date.

But definitely hold your breath for that second prediction

I would not be surprised if most the series is similar to Legion - probably with Wanda warping some of reality around her.

If Monica Rambeau is in this, then does that mean she'll have her powers? Maybe we'll see her replace Carol in Captain Marvel 2 at this rate.

Kevin Feige and Marvel is not playing around.

They just introduced Monica Rambeau as a child. How is she going to be a fully grown adult so soon? How many years will have passed from Endgame and Wandavision?

WTF is the timeline?!... lol.

Teyonah Parris went from playing Lil' Kim to the MCU im a major role.

Talk about a glow-up. Sometimes, you just gotta keep hustling and working hard.

528491 - 7/20/2019, 8:05 PM
Weirdly, Teyonah Parris might not actually be old enough for the role... Monica was supposed to be 11 in Captain Marvel, which was set in 1995, so given that Spiderman Homecoming took us up to 2024 in the timeline, Monica would have to be 40 years old (35 if she blipped out).

I guess though since this may involve time travel to the 1950s via multiverses or hallucinations, arguing about age is irrelevant.

@528491 - She’s 31 now (and the show isn’t coming until 2021), so playing a 35 year old isn’t a big stretch.

I was already onboard for this series, but everything I hear about it just makes it more and more intriguing. It pains me that it’s not coming until 2021...

very interesting character to add. Wonder how she'll get powers. Maybe she's already an Avenger? I can see them doing that, being like, the Avenger sent to check up on Wanda, similar to Victor Mancha's role in the book.

It’s amazing they made me more excited for a TV series than most movies in the next several years. Even though the title is dumb everything else sounds amazing and having it lead into Doctor Strange 2 is pure brilliance. And I so look forward to seeing Photon/Spectrum. Another amazing Marvel character to capture imaginations.

We haven't seen Wanda's witchie powers since Age of Ultron. In the Visual Dictionary, they retconned her to say the Mind stone opened latent powers within her. This is probably why Hydra chose her and her brother for experimentation to begin with. I'm betting they introduce mutants thru her backstory and that her Sokovian ancestors were considered witches. This will tie nicely into Doctor Strange 2's gothic horror angle.
