Variety reports that Netflix's live-action Assassin's Creed series has enlisted Jeb Stuart as a writer. He most recently created Vikings: Valhalla (a continuation of the History Channel's Vikings) for the streaming service, but is perhaps best known for penning the likes of Die Hard and The Fugitive.
The show was announced last October and is part of a deal between Netflix and Ubisoft to develop live-action, animated, and anime TV shows based on its video games.
The Assassin's Creed series has been a huge hit on consoles with over 155 million copies sold since 2007. While recent instalments have veered away from the war between the Assassins and Templars as they look to track down the Pieces of Eden, they've been extremely well-received, moving the action to Egypt and Ancient Greece.
However, Assassin's Creed 2's exploration of Italy remains a favourite for many fans.
A movie, with an original story, was released in 2016 starring Michael Fassbender. With negative reviews from critics, a $240 million haul on a budget of $125 million meant it wasn't considered a success. As a result, it's no great surprise Ubisoft now hopes to bring the franchise to the small screen.
Other Ubisoft titles coming to Netflix include Far Cry and Splinter Cell anime series.
There's been no word on what we can expect from this take on Assassin's Creed, but it would definitely be fun to revisit the story of a familiar face from the games rather than another newly created character.
