3, 2, 1.. Let's jam!

We thought we might get a look at the first trailer for Netflix's Cowboy Bebop adaptation during today's TUDUM event, but the streamer did share a treat for fans of the original anime in the form of the show's opening credits.

These credits are obviously inspired by the anime's opening sequence, and feature an updated version of Yoka Kano's iconic score. We also get to see Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) in action for the first time, along with a glimpse of the crew's adorable corgi, Ein.

Check out the video below along with some new stills.

"Cowboy Bebop is an action-packed space Western about three bounty hunters, aka cowboys, all trying to outrun the past. As different as they are deadly, Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (Daniella Pineda) form a scrappy, snarky crew ready to hunt down the solar system’s most dangerous criminals — for the right price. But they can only kick and quip their way out of so many scuffles before their pasts finally catch up with them."

Cowboy Bebop will be exec produced and written by Christopher Yost (Thor), who will also serve as showrunner along with Andre Nemec, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg of Midnight Radio; Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios; Yasuo Miyakawa, Masayuki Ozaki, and Shin Sasaki of Sunrise Inc. Watanabe is on board as a consultant.

It’s a damn good recreation. Glad they realized if it broke don’t fix it with the music. But it looks like cosplayers recreated the animated opening.

Something about it feels kind of cheap.

@BlackBeltJones - It's because it's Netflix. Their stuff never really looks high budget to be honest.

wait, this is an updated version of the song? they didn't change a thing, which is good because Bebop's OST is frankly one of the greatest OST's in media history, let alone anime.

not gonna lie, recreating the OP is one hell of a sell because they didn't really have to do it and yet they did it anyways, not to mention Netflix usually doesn't do long opening sequences. maybe they actually tried (and maybe even succeded) with this adaptation, we'll see in november I guess.

@Spidey91 - I wouldn't go that far. Netflix has been really good with remaking moments from anime into live action. Just look at full metal alchemist. The problem is when they actually adapt the story.

@Origame - Fullmetal wasn't a Netflix movie. It's a Warner Bros Japan movie, Netflix just brought it over.
But there's a broader point about faithfully remaking iconic anime images in the adaptations, whether Japanese or Hollywood made. GitS and Alita are full of recreated shots that look good enough but don't really help make a better movie, they mostly just look great as trailer shots to hype the fans.

@4thMaster - agreed. Just making it look the part doesn't mean anything.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Jon Cho as Spike. Something tells me I might have preferred Andrew Koji who I think would be able to nail the charisma, stunt work and voice a little better.

I'm hoping to be proven wrong though because I think John Cho is the better actor.

@Kumkani - THIS

Koji was one of my top three choices. He oozes Bruce Lee cool in a series written by Bruce Lee. And Spike has Lee energy.

@mrbaconsock - Warrior on Cinemax is based off a Bruce Lee story and concept for a show
