SUPER-NORMAL: Daisy Ridley, Josh Gad And Luke Evans On Board For New Netflix Superhero Comedy

THR reports that Netflix has picked up a new superhero comedy called Super-Normal, which has Josh Gad, Daisy Ridley and Luke Evans attached to star. Gad originated the idea for the film and is also producing the project with Dan Lin, and Jonathan Eirich of Lin Pictures. Moana scribes Aaron and Jordan Kandell are writing the script.

Super-Normal is described as "a character-driven subversive take on the genre that Hollywood and the rest of the world loves too much."

No word on the characters Ridley and Evans will be playing, but it sounds like Gad will play the lead, as he's taken on a "super-heroic role."

It's difficult to get much of a read on this without knowing more, but let us know what you think of the concept in the comments.

More subversive meta commentary on superheores.

Eventually will get too much of this haha.

10 years later...
"There's too much meta superhero media. It was fresh when Kick Ass and Deadpool did it but now we're facing oversaturation"

@BackwardGalaxy - Same here. I was going to say "Another superhero comedy?" and then I saw her name and I'm thinking "Yes, sounds good, I must see this."

I just saw Justice League. It's all mixed up in me right now, but it just wasn't good. There were good little moments in there, but overall, just was weird. In particular, the dialog. Too much felt forced.

I just saw JL, too. It shouldn't have worked but it did.

We already have superhero comedies from Marvel Studios (no shade).

Quite the cast they've assembled though, consider me intrigued

Now we come to the stage of the genre where the vultures circle.

Every Star Wars must have its Space Balls. But Star Wars endures while Space Balls is remembered as... eh, it's a mid-tier Mel Brooks movie...

(And I say this as a genuine fan of vultures.)
