DAREDEVIL And JESSICA JONES Screenwriters Are Working On Netflix's THE WITCHER Adaptation

According to producer Lauren S. Hissrich, the writers who created the scripts for Jessica Jones' Season 2, Daredevil, and The Originals have joined the upcoming Netflix's adaptation of The Witcher saga!

Netflix's The Witcher series is still in the pre-production phase as the adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's body of work won't be released before 2020, and even that is an optimistic scenario. The first season will be a short one, with only eight episodes, but the works on the script for The Witcher are still unfinished and require more time. At least, we finally know who will be responsible for the script.

Screenwriter and producer Lauren S. Hissrich has already finished working on the pilot episode and recently revealed that her long-time collaborators Jenny Klein (Jessica Jones S2, Cloak & Dagger), Sneha Koorse (Constantine, Daredevil), Declan de Barra (Funky Fables, The Originals), and Clare Higgins (The Worst Witch) will write the script and there are five more screenwriters working on the series.

The Witcher was officially announced last May and Netflix plans to adapt the first two books in the saga, Sword of Destiny and The Last Wish as the adaptation will be filmed entirely in Eastern and Central Europe, mostly in Poland. Sean Daniel, Jason Brown and Platige Images' Jarek Sawko and Tomek Bagiński are producing the series. Andrzej Sapkowski is signed on as a creative consultant.

The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.

@Kevwebsz - Really? Witcher 3 was masterpiece, and those two big DLC damn this is how DLC should look like.Great world with charismatic characters,no simple good or evil, and the storytelling is probably one if not the best in RPG games recently.

@Kevwebsz - 2 and 3 are pretty great from a gameplay perspective. If it's the world you didn't care for, then you may not like the series, because it largely nails the gothic tone and setting.

Last season of JJ was rather boring, the first one was saved by Tennant and DD has had up and downs in the last season..

I hope they don't screw up Witcher and they stay as close as possible to the source material.

Looking forward to this. Daredevil S1-2 are strong and JJ season 2 may have been a disappointment but the first season is one of the best things put out by Marvel Television.

Also I'm a big fan of the games, thought I haven't gotten around to reading the books yet (still trying to work my way through Wheel of Time). Hopefully this show does the franchise justice. This thing's going to have to have a huge budget.

Ugh the writers of Jessica Jones S2...and what season of Daredevil exactly? I liked both but season 1 had a much tighter script and pacing.

The books are a great resource for adapting it into a series. Just don't overthink it.

I really hope they nail the sorcery and magic politics.

@TheSoulEater - Eh can't really see Jamie Lanister in the role.

I still really like Mads Mikkelsen for the role. It'd be different from the character in the games, but maybe that's a good thing. It'll help differentiate it.

Plus the Witcher is supposed to be older and more beaten down, not really a pretty boy.
