Ahead of its series premiere next month, Netflix has renewed The Witcher, its upcoming live-action adaptation of the best-selling Andrzej Sapkowski novels of the same name, for an eight-episode second season, set to debut on the streamer in Fall 2021.
Production is expected to commence early next year in London with the principal cast of Henry Cavill (Mission: Impossible - Fallout), Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust) and Freya Allan (Gunpowder Milkshake) all slated to reprise their roles as Geralt of Rivia, Yennefer of Vengerberg and Princess Ciri, respectively.
Unlike HBO, Amazon Prime or other networks, Netflix has rarely renewed shows ahead of their debuts, so this would seemingly suggest they may be feeling quite bullish about the quality of this particular series and are confident in its ability to draw an audience when it launches December 20.
