Clary Fray has just enrollled at Brooklyn Academy of Arts. On her eigtheenth birthday she learns that she is a Shadowhunter, a human born with angelic blood that fights to protect the world from demons. But that night her mother, Jocelyn Fray, is abducted by a rogue shadowhunters of "The Circle", lead by Jocelyn's husband Valentine Morgenstern.
With her mother gone, she turns to the only person she could trust, only to be betrayed. Clary then joins a band of Shadowhunters to save her mother and discovers powers she never knew she had. Clary is thrown into the world of demon hunting with mysterious, narcissistic and lethally gorgeous Shadowhunter Jace and her intelligent, loyal, geeky best friend, Simon. Now living among faeries, warlocks, vampires and werewolves, Clary begins a journey of self-discovery as she learns more about her past and what her future may hold.
