AHSOKA Featurette Points To Jedi Future For Sabine Wren And Reveals New Footage From Upcoming Episodes

In recent weeks, Lucasfilm has begun releasing teasers for Ahsoka which strongly hint the title character began training Sabine Wren as a Jedi before abandoning her. We're still not sure why that was but expect the show to explore what happened after the old allies are reunited.

Star Wars Rebels dropped hints about the Mandalorian being Force-sensitive and a new featurette (via SFFGazette.com) explores the relationship between Master and Padawan. Explaining how knowledge is passed down, we follow the Jedi teachings from Qui-Gon Jinn to Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker to Ahsoka Tano...to Sabine.

This could all be a misdirect, but we're definitely intrigued by what this potentially means not only for her but this corner of the Galaxy moving forward; if Sabine does indeed become a Jedi, then what does that mean for the events of the Star Wars sequels? Was she off dealing with an even greater threat than even Emperor Palpatine?

We'll have to wait and see, but this video also features new footage from Ahsoka and a funny story from showrunner Dave Filoni in which he recalls how George Lucas decided Anakin would have a Padawan.

You can watch it in either of the players below.

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.

So I guess this means Kanaan was messing with her the whole time and never told her she was ever force sensitive, what a dick lol

I find this all pretty interesting, there was no indication throughout Rebels that Sabine was Force Sensitive so it's odd that Ashoka seems to be training her as a Jedi. Personally I've always disliked the idea of Force Sensitivity since it was introduced in the Prequels, always preferred the idea that using the Force was about belief and training and even though occasionally someone would be born with an unusually strong connection to the Force like the Skywalkers, becoming a Jedi was something anyone could learn with enough dedication and belief, rather than Force Sensitives basically just being the Star Wars equivalent of mutants with the Jedi basically being the X-Men.

So with that in mind I'm almost getting that impression here, but it wouldn't really make sense to change the rules at this point.

@AC1 - she learned to handle the dark Saber better than Mando.

@McMurdo - That's true, but wouldn't that retroactively imply some degree of Force Sensitivity is necessary to wield the Dark Saber (or any light saber for that matter) open up more potential plot holes? Like Bo Katan uses the Dark Saber well, does that mean she's Force Sensitive too? And Moff Gideon was better at using it than Mando, but if he's Force Sensitive then his cloning project was pointless. Not saying I think you're wrong, just saying I'm very curious to see how this all plays out.

@AC1 - I never got that personally I just always assumed it what more akin to a heavy Longsword than lightsaber.
