Rosario Dawson first got to wield Ahsoka Tano's lightsaber in The Mandalorian, and while she'd reprise the role in The Book of Boba Fett, the character will finally step fully into the spotlight in this August's Ahsoka.
The show looks set to be a direct sequel to Star Wars Rebels, something that's evident from a new image which puts the spotlight on the title character, Mary Elizabeth Winstead's Hera Syndulla, and David Tennant's droid character Huyang.
Asked by Total Film (via SFFGazette.com) if she hopes to play this character beyond Ahsoka, Dawson responded, "I mean, I do, and I hope [Dave Filoni] does. I think he's one of the greatest I've ever worked with in this medium and in this space."
"I hope that he continues to bring Ahsoka along. Because he's been very loyal to her over the years, and she to him. That's not going away any time soon. So any kind of way and iteration that I can keep working with Dave, and being inspired by him, and challenging him when I can – it would be awesome."
We have to believe we'll see more of Ahsoka beyond this series (especially with Filoni helming an upcoming Star Wars movie) but only time will tell. For now, you can take a closer look at that new still below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.
