The first episode of The Book of Boba Fett is now streaming on Disney+, and while "Stranger in a Strange Land" didn't see the return of many established characters from the galaxy far, far away, one familiar metal face did make an appearance.
As Fett holds court from his throne, we see that The Return of the Jedi's 8D8 is making the introductions. This somewhat freaky-looking droid was only briefly glimpsed in the final film in the original Star Wars trilogy as he branded a Gonk-Droid's feet in the depths of Jabba's palace. He's given a few lines here, though, and if his voice sounded familiar, it's because he's played by none other than Matt Berry.
UK comedy fans will likely know Berry for his roles in The IT Crowd and The Mighty Boosh, as well as the more obscure Garth Marenghi's Darkplace. More recently, he appeared in the TV spinoff of Taika Waititi's What We Do In The Shadows.
We're not sure if 8D8 will have a role to play in the rest of the season, but we'd bet on seeing him again at some point... unless he does something to incur the wrath of his new master, that is.
