Disney+ and Lucasfilm have released a new featurette for The Book of Boba Fett that further explores the significance of this iconic bounty hunter making his return to this Galaxy Far, Far Away. The Mandalorian is where he showed up in live-action for the first time since Return of the Jedi, of course, but this series is going to pick up with the character on Tatooine after that huge post-credits scene.
In this preview - appropriately titled "Return of a Legend" - filmmakers Dave Filoni, Jon Favreau and Robert Rodriguez, and stars Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen, give an overview of the show and celebrate Boba Fett taking centre stage in a series that definitely has Star Wars fans buzzing.
It was recently confirmed that the red carpet event celebrating the premiere of the series has been cancelled as a result of concerns surrounding COVID-19. Now, the hope is it will instead take place to mark the finale, and it's unclear whether any of the cast and crew have done press in advance of The Book of Boba Fett's premiere in an effort to protect any spoilers leaking. We recently learned that trailers have only included footage from the first half of next week's debut episode.
The Book of Boba Fett finds the title bounty hunter and mercenary Fennec Shand navigating the galaxy’s underworld when they return to the sands of Tatooine to stake their claim on the territory once ruled by Jabba the Hutt and his crime syndicate. The show arrives on Disney+ on December 29.
