OBI-WAN KENOBI Director Teases Live-Action Debut Of Sith Inquisitors; New Promo Shot Of Obi-Wan Revealed

Since Star Wars Rebels, Darth Vader's Sith Inquisitors have taken on an increasingly large role in comic books and video games. However, it will be in Obi-Wan Kenobi that the villainous group makes its live-action debut with Rupert Friend taking over from Jason Isaacs as the sinister Grand Inquisitor.

He won't be the only familiar face we see, though most of the spotlight is expected to be put on Moses Ingram's Reva. Talking to EW (via SFFGazette.com), Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow spoke about bringing the Sith Inquisitors to live-action for the first time and teased what fans can expect.

"Obviously, they're from Rebels, and it was really exciting to get to do them for the first time in live action. They're established characters and whatnot, so we brought them into the show and it's largely because they were out there. They're Jedi hunters, so they're under Vader and Palpatine, and they're basically dark side wielders that their primary purpose is to hunt down Jedi."

"I would say Dave Filoni was very pivotal for me, both in terms of The Mandalorian and in terms of the Star Wars of it all, as well as Jon Favreau," Chow continued, explaining what it's been like to tell this story in the midst of a very busy time in this Galaxy. "But Dave also was a touchstone, and remains a touchstone for me for this series. Anytime I have a question about canon, I go to him."

With these comments come new Obi-Wan Kenobi promo stills showing Ewan McGregor as the Jedi Master with his trusty lightsaber in hand. This isn't his "Ben" Kenobi outfit and is presumably what we'll see the hero wearing for the vast majority of this series when it launches on May 27.

Please be good, and don't make Ben a side character in his own show...

@bobevanz - Where was it established Ben would be a side character in his own show?

@kylo0607 - there’s a leak going around that he is… that’s all I’ll say to that

@TheAcuario -

But, but the title of the show is…

@tylerzero - I know what the title of the show. I just hope the most recent leaks aren’t true. I’m excited to see Ewan back in the role of Kenobi. He’s my favorite Jedi.

Also, I’m glad Hayden is getting another shot, hopefully we get a Clone Wars flashback in this series

Seeing the Grand Inquisitor with regular eyes really takes me out of it. Kinda like with seeing Nebula behind the scenes. Just a bit uncanny

I'm still not the biggest fan of the Grand Inquisitor's look. But I can live with it. I just hope the Inquisitors as a whole are cool and badasses.

Can't wait to watch Kenobi as a supporting character like Boba Fett

It'll probably be all about Reva with a redemption arc

Aside from the sequels (and although they hindered it’s potential), this is the one story that Disney NEEDED to make, and I am so excited it’s almost here.

Initially I didn’t like the idea of him coming face to face with Vader again since I felt it contradicted what was said in ANH….until I remembered that George Lucas himself contradicted the saga with the incredibly dumb oversight of Leia saying she remembered her mother and her being sad in ROTJ then showing her being just born in Revenge of the Sith (and sure you could talk about her remembering through the force but whatever way you slice it it’s still an oversight).

Plus, I like the idea that the “rematch” is necessary as Obi-Wan has no idea that Anakin is still alive - believing he left him for dead on Mustafar - and this is how he finds out.

Cannot wait.

The only thing I'm worried about, is it being a slow-burn show.

I mean that Obi will want to stay hidden, and the first time we have a lightsaber duel will be in episode 4.

Trying to keep my hype low, because that kinda ruined Moon Knight for me.

The creator said something about a lot of cameos, which will make fans happy.

Who could it be? Definitely not Maul (that has been confirmed) but if there was a Grievous flashback, I'd scream (highly unlikely).

Also I really hope we get Ochi of Bestoon in live action one day.

Star Wars should have it's Deadpool too!

@UXASIS - I'm a fan and want zero cameos. This was supposed to be a story of Ben's isolation, protection of Luke, and continuing his training into the force. Anything else makes the universe smaller and less interesting

@WarMonkey - The cameos that are the obvious ones are Qui-Gon, Bail and Leia Organa, Mon Mothma.

There are probably 2 secret cameos no one knows yet.
