Obi-Wan Kenobi has been a huge hit for Lucasfilm on Disney+, and fans have made it clear that they're hoping to see much more of Ewan McGregor's Jedi Master after this six-episode limited series. There's certainly room to tell additional stories featuring the character, while a Darth Vader spinoff feels long overdue at this stage.

In recent weeks, there have been rumblings that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 is already in the works, and during an interview with RadioTimes.com (via SFFGazette.com), director Deborah Chow acknowledged that another batch of episodes isn't outside the realm of possibility.

You know, we always did conceive of this as a limited series," she started. "So it's not an adventure-of-the-week sort of story. It's one big story with a beginning, middle and end. So I think this story was very much conceived to be its own standalone."

"I mean, there are of course more stories that you could tell. There's obviously another 10 years before we get to A New Hope and with a character like Obi-Wan Kenobi, I think even just watching him ride across the sand sometimes is interesting," the filmmaker continued. "So, who knows? It's hard to say right now, but it was not the intention."

As for whether season 2 could happen, Chow cautioned: "Honestly, at this point, the only thing I'm thinking about is taking vacation. I haven't gotten there. I can't even conceive of it yet. I just need to actually finish the show to get there first."

Ewan McGregor hasn't shied away from making his interest in reprising the role known in previous interviews, and that was the case here too. "I hope it’s not the last time I play him," he says. "I had such a great time doing this, I'm sure we can think of a few more stories before I turn into Alec Guinness, don't you think?"

Hayden Christensen, meanwhile, is similarly enthusiastic about taking another crack at Darth Vader. "I would love to continue with this character," the actor enthused. "You know, I think there's certainly more there to explore and I would be so excited to get to do so," adding that if there was a second season, he "would certainly be open to" being part of it.

They want it, we want it, and now we just have to hope Lucasfilm and Disney+ decide to make it a reality. It took a long time for Obi-Wan Kenobi to happen, of course, so here's hoping the wait isn't quite as extreme as it was between Revenge of the Sith and this "limited series."
