With all eyes on Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen's respective Star Wars returns in Disney+'s Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's easy to forget just how impressive the rest of the show's cast is.
O'Shea Jackson Jr., Indira Varma, and Kumail Nanjiani are among those we can't wait to see in action in this Galaxy Far, Far Away, and thanks to Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com), we have details on each of their roles. No names are revealed, but each of them are playing newly created characters.
Jackson Jr. reportedly plays a humanitarian who is working on the planet Jabiim to help those who have been hurt by the Empire's efforts to take control of the Galaxy, and it sounds like the young Princess Leia will become involved in his cause. However, the key thing here will be showing us a different side of the Rebellion to those who pick up a blaster in an effort to overcome the Emperor's control.
Despite speculation to the contrary, Varma isn't playing Satine Kryze and is said to be an Imperial Officer. However, it sounds like she's actually a double agent and is looking to oppose the Sith's control of the Empire, putting her on a collision course with Palpatine and Darth Vader.
As for Nanjiani, the Eternals star is not a droid and is instead described as a "Han Solo-type." Despite initially coming across as something of a seedy character, we later learn there's more to him than meets the eye, and he's reportedly set for a team-up with Jackson Jr.'s character and Kenobi.
Each of these characters has the potential to make an impact in this Galaxy beyond Obi-Wan Kenobi. That's an exciting prospect, and we'll hopefully have more to share soon!
