OBI-WAN KENOBI Is Set To Include A Cameo From One Of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK's Iconic Bounty Hunters

StarWarsNews.net (via SFFGazette.com) has revealed that bounty hunter 4-LOM is set to make an appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi. You may remember the droid from The Empire Strikes Back, though he's also been showcased in comic books like Star Wars, Darth Vader, and War of the Bounty Hunters, among others.

While he was only a background character in that classic movie, 4-LOM is remembered for being among those hired by Darth Vader to capture Han Solo. Considering this Disney+ series takes place long before the events of Empire, it stands to reason that the droid will survive whatever happens in the show (we're betting he's recruited to help track down any remaining Jedi survivors from Order 66, potentially alongside the Sith Inquisitors).

It's worth noting that 4-LOM has worked for the Hutt Clan, so a cameo on Tatooine is also a strong possibility.

A type of protocol droid, this LOM-series model managed to overcome a flaw in his software to become a bounty hunter. He recently received a Funko Pop as part of a series recreating that iconic scene in The Empire Strikes Back, and Lucasfilm putting the spotlight on him here is likely to be welcomed by longtime fans of the franchise.

Hopefully, the rest of those bounty hunters will also make their presence felt in this Galaxy Far, Far Away moving forward. We're still waiting on Din Djarin to cross paths with the likes of Bossk and Dengar, but his recent team-up with Boba Fett certainly didn't disappoint Star Wars fans.

It's funny how articles on sffgazette just end up on this site a day or two later.

Just do a pure Darth Vader show or movie already. He's the coolest, most interesting globally-recognised character in Star Wars. The last two minutes of 'Rogue One' make that totally obvious. Don't make an Ewok dating show, don't make a documentary about waste disposal on Cloud City, don't put R2 and C3PO on Naked and Afraid... do. Freakin. Darth. Vader.

@rychlec - A show about Vader hunting down remaining Order 66 Jedi. Seems like a no-brainer...

@rychlec - He's the coolest, most interesting globally-recognised character. Period

I really think you can show anyone a picture of him, and everybody will atleast either his name or where he's from. Weird they don't cash in on that (although you could argue thats what the prequels did)

I've seen Empire like 3 times and I think its the best Star Wars movie, but ill never understand the love for any of those bounty hunters. They're barely even in the movie and they don't do very much. I just don't understand how any of those guys got popular.

@eGGtheGreat - I would like to see a series set just before The Empire Strikes Back with most of those bounty hunters and we get to see why Vader hired these guys. The series ends with Vader calling them to meet him on his ship.

Temuera Morrison's Boba Fett will have a small part, but it's mostly about the other bounty hunters. We also get a glimpse of a younger Din Djarin (Mandalorian) 7-8 years before the Mandalorian. Maybe we get to see who trained him so well.

@eGGtheGreat - I don't know how many times I saw Empire before Phantom menace was released but im certain it's more than ten times. Maybe now you can understand why old folks like even the smallest things in the background. Because we didn't have all the SW content that exist today. That's the reason why Boba used to be a cool character..

@eGGtheGreat - It's because they are part of how Lucas did the world building. Them being there showed more of what the universe was like and we loved it and wanted to explore more of this new world that never existed before.

Man it really sucks they didn’t get any of these guys back for the boba fett show.

Bossk was especially close to boba since he was there for the carbonate freezing and during Clone wars. Why oh why didn’t they do a story with those relationships

I was going to see this movie but I got to thinking recently that Tattooine is clearly based on Egypt and doesn't do a good enough job portraying the Egyptian culture.
