OBI-WAN KENOBI: Liam Neeson Shoots Down Cameo Rumors By Saying He'll Only Play Qui-Gon Jinn In A Movie

With rumours swirling that Qui-Gon Jinn will appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi, Liam Neeson has seemingly shot down our hopes by saying he's not too keen on the idea of playing the Jedi Master on TV. Check it out!

Liam Neeson played Qui-Gon Jinn in 1999's Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, and while it was a one-off appearance for the actor, the Jedi Master remains a firm fan-favourite. Over the years, we've seen him lend his voice to the hero in The Clone Wars and got to hear Qui-Gon among the many Jedi voices in The Rise of Skywalker; however, Obi-Wan Kenobi seems the most likely place for him to return.

That would obviously be as a Force Ghost, but during a recent interview with ComicBook.com (via SFFGazette.com), Neeson seemingly shot down the possibility of a cameo on TV.

"Oh, I think so, yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so...if it was a film," the actor said about a possible return. "Yeah, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to TV, I must admit, I just like the big screen, you know? Qui-Gon, I can't believe it's 24 years since we made [Star Wars:] The Phantom Menace, I just cannot believe where the time has gone. It was a terrific experience, shooting that film in London."

Something tells us Neeson might be looking to throw fans off the scent here, especially as he's made his fair share of small screen appearances over the years (including recently in Derry Girls).

If we are going to see Qui-Gon in Obi-Wan Kenobi, then you have to believe Lucasfilm will do everything within its power to keep that a surprise for fans. If it doesn't happen here, then we're not sure when or where it really could, especially as the Jedi is so closely tied to his former Padawan and Anakin Skywalker. Ahsoka is a possibility, but not a particularly likely one in all honesty.

If it's a lie, it's a good one. I just can't see them doing an Obi Wan series without some sort of cameo from his master

Maybe for on-screen appearances, but he seems pretty open to voiceover, which would make the most sense here.

The guy is in the series, don't let him fool you. He wouldn't do Ewan McGregor like that.

You know…
If they have Nesson on set…it would awesome if they filmed/recorded his ‘Revenge of the Sith’ part and re-incorporated that into ROTS.

I know eventually they explored it in Clone Wars…but it would be so much better if added to a new ending of ROTS.

Seeing as though he's done TV Star Wars stuff before (albiet just V/O) I find his stance here... a bit odd. He's almost too much against the idea.
