Ever since rumours of some sort of Obi-Wan Kenobi movie or TV show began, fans have shared their hopes that Liam Neeson might reprise the role of Qui-Gon Jinn. Obi-Wan's master fell at the hands of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, but later mastered the ability to become a Force Ghost, and seemingly promised to teach his former student how to do the same.

Obi-Wan appeared to sacrifice himself to Darth Vader so he could become more powerful, and his guidance ultimately helped Luke Skywalker do what was necessary to end the Empire's reign, redeem Anakin Skywalker, and stop Emperor Palpatine (until The Rise of Skywalker rolled around, of course).

Now, Bespin Bulletin is reporting that we will see Neeson make a physical appearance in Obi-Wan Kenobi as Qui-Gon. It's unclear what role he'll play beyond this, though we'd guess he's probably been imparting some wisdom on his former Padawan as he teaches him how to live on even after death.

Qui-Gon's return is long overdue, and as Obi-Wan Kenobi is only set to be a "limited series," this is the best - and likely final - place to make it happen and fill in some gaps in old Ben Kenobi's life on Tatooine.

There's still no word on when a trailer is likely to drop for the show, though sometime in early April seems most likely as Disney+ is probably going to want to keep the focus on Moon Knight this month.

Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 25. Keep checking SFFGazette.com for updates!

This could either go very well or very wrong. But it’s Qui-Gon and I’ve been dying to see him again

"but later mastered the ability to become a Force Ghost"

Where was it established that Qui-Gon could Force Ghost? I'm pretty sure he made it clear that his training was incomplete and he couldn't physically manifest. Otherwise he would make appearances like the other force ghosts.

@Nightwing1015 - if memory serves, it's at the end of the 3rd prequel film, after order 66 yoda tells obi he's had a visit from an old friend who's learnt the ability to force ghost and obi says "qui gon" and yoda nods. I am surprised Disney hasn't utilised this sooner though, always thought we'd see his ghost at somepoint.

@ReaperBaby - No I think Yoda said Qui-Gon had communicated with him not that he had learned to Force Ghost. Yoda was talking about his experience with Qui-Gon in the Clone Wars show there. When Qui-Gon's voice spoke to him on Dagobah.

Could Qui-Gon have learned to Force Ghost since....I suppose so. Just odd he never showed up in the saga after that then.
