OBI-WAN KENOBI Spoilers Shed Some Light On The Story's Ending, Cameo Plans, Darth Vader, And More

Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com) has been sharing a lot of spoilery details about Obi-Wan Kenobi lately, but the latest might be the most revealing yet. The hope among fans is that Liam Neeson will show up as Qui-Gon Jinn in the Disney+ limited series, and while we recently learned that there's a strong possibility of that coming to pass, the site has now elaborated on those plans.

As you might expect, when we find Obi-Wan ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, he's lonely and broken. Using the Force to call out to his old Master, "Ben" has no luck in reaching Qui-Gonn. However, when fate pulls him away from Tatooine and he gets to see how defiant the young Princess Leia is in the face of the Empire's rule, a spark is ignited within the Jedi hero.

After initially being bested by Darth Vader, their second battle reportedly takes place on Mustafar's Moon. There, Qui-Gonn finally appears as a voice to encourage Obi-Wan in the face of his greatest challenge yet. Obi-Wan then realises he still has work to do, and that, eventually, they will be able to overcome Emperor Palpatine's rule and overthrow the evil Empire that's subjugated the Galaxy.

The site goes on to explain that by the time Obi-Wan returns to Tatooine, he's a changed man. He's Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master again. It's then that Qui-Gonn finally appears as a Force Ghost, and now Obi-Wan is fully connected to the living Force, the work must begin for him to become more powerful than ever before (which leads to him guiding Luke on his path to beating Palpatine years later).

Needless to say, this is all very exciting, and if this is where the story is heading, it sounds like Lucasfilm has definitely set out to make Star Wars fans happy...something the sequels failed to do!

They need to explore some story threads that was hinted at in the prequals that were not answered. For example, it mentions a Jedi Sifo-Dyas in the prequels, but we never find out anything more. They should examine that story more...

Interesting, so he has given up. He must watch Luke and wonder is he there new hope or next tyrant in waiting.

As an arc, it feels similar to Luke in Last Jedi, but perhaps with more weight as we’ve seen the world this person lived in via the PT and Clone Wars, we know what he has lost, the fear he must have, the test of faith he’d be enduring.

Luke in Force Awaken and Last Jedi we never saw his school, the effects of the Jedi being back, how close he was to Ben and what his life in anyway was like prior so the cost his failure just doesn’t have same weight especially when leads to same set up as OT

So this is a uncanon story it seems? I mean in the canon story they only met again in episode IV: New Hope. I'm still okay with that, because can't get enough of lightsaber fights.

@Waddles - I could be also wrong. Maybe I'll just watch it later today.

@Waddles - took some digging, it looks like it's retconned, but it was still the original plot that they met between III and IV.

My understanding having limited knowledge of the SW extended universe is that Obi-Wan's and Vader's duel at the end of a New Hope was their first battle since ROTS which is why he said, "I've been waiting for you, Obi-Wan. We meet again, at last. The circle is now complete. When I left you I was but the learner. Now, I am the master." So this series is saying that prior to a New Hope they had other battles?
