We're just a few weeks away from Obi-Wan Kenobi's Disney+ premiere, and StarWarsNews.net (via SFFGazette.com) has dropped a very interesting new casting addition to the series.
Apparently, we're getting an appearance from Flea. Yes, Flea of the rock band, Red Hot Chilli Peppers. It's said that the musician will be rocking a "cool-looking blaster," and he's no stranger to making noteworthy cameo appearances. He's previously appeared in the likes of Back to the Future, The Big Lebowski, and Baby Driver, but this marks his first trip to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
This wouldn't be a first for Lucasfilm, though; Thundercat appeared in The Book of Boba Fett, while legendary composer John Williams even made a cameo appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.
As for what may have put Flea on the Star Wars franchise's radar, it's worth noting that, back in February, Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow helmed Red Hot Chilli Peppers music video "Black Summer" from their Unlimited Love album. We find it hard to imagine that's a simple coincidence.
Chow has previously teased a lot of surprises for the show, and we're guessing this is one of them. Flea's casting is hardly a spoiler, though we are curious to see how he factors into proceedings. But don't be surprised if he only sticks around for a scene or two based on past experience!
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres on Disney+ on May 27 with its first two episodes.
