OBI-WAN KENOBI Will Now Premiere With A Double Episode On May 27

A new teaser for Obi-Wan Kenobi has been released (there's no new footage, unfortunately) featuring star Ewan McGregor making an important announcement relating to the upcoming Disney+ series.

Obi-Wan Kenobi's premiere date has been pushed back, but only by a couple of days, and Star Wars fans probably won't mind waiting a little bit longer to see the legendary Jedi's return when they hear the other part of this update!

Star Ewan McGregor announced that the show will now hit Disney+ on Friday, May 27 with a double-episode. The actor shared the news in a teaser promo, but all of the footage appears to be taken from the recently released trailer.

Disney+ likely made this change to move Obi-Wan away from Ms. Marvel, which is also set to air on Wednesdays (it'll debut on June 8), but the date shift means the Star Wars show will now go head-to-head with Netflix’s Stranger Things, which will release Part 1 of its latest season on May 27.

Set in between the events of the prequels and the original trilogy, the show will find Kenobi watching over a young Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. When the ruthless Sith Inquisitors arrive in search of surviving Jedi, Obi-Wan sets out on a new adventure which will bring him face-to-face with his former Padawan turned bitter enemy, Darth Vader (Hayden Christensen).

The cast also includes Rupert Friend as the villainous Grand Inquisitor, Joel Edgerton and Bonnie Piesse as Owen and Beru Lars, Moses Ingram, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie and Maya Erskine.

understandable, they wouldn't want the new Marvel character show overshadowed by a really anticipated show about a big Star Wars fan favorite character.

@Spidey91 - Nothing has changed in regards to those later episodes being released on the same days as Ms. Marvel

These first two episodes will premiere on a Friday but the subsequent episodes will be on the normal Wednesdays according to IMDb and other news outlets

@lordSTALE - I assume all release dates are shifted to fridays. Wouldn't make sense to take it of the A New Hope 45th anniversary, as they could just keep that wednesday as well. Unless, we'll get a 45th anniversary remaster for ANH on that day. Bet Disney wanna keep the buzz on that then

I can’t wait for this. Since, Jedi Fallen Order I’ve been in need of going back to the time period between the prequels and OT. Ewan and Hayden literally don’t age either, the timing is perfect let’s gooo

It's great that we get the three GOATs at the beginning of the year (The Batman, Moon Knight, and Seňor Kenobi).

so Kenobi vs Top Gun Maverick, wonder what Disney's thinking is on that.. you'd think they would not want to release it same day as a Tom Cruise film

Hope it's better than The Book Of Boba Fett, which had its moments and as good as The Mandalorion.

Nice.
Also Stranger Things releasing at the same time is not a problem. That just means more good things to watch!
