Obi-Wan Kenobi screeners weren't sent out to critics in advance, meaning they got to watch the first two episodes at the same time as everyone else. Now, reviews have started pouring in, and with them we have an early Rotten Tomatoes score. As you can see below, after 29 verdicts have been counted, the latest Star Wars TV series has an 86% score. 

That's not a bad start, though we're sure the number will fluctuate as more reviews hit the aggregator.

With this score comes a freshly released batch of spoiler stills from Obi-Wan Kenobi's first two episodes showcasing a number of key moments. As you might expect, the vast majority of the spotlight is put on Ewan McGregor's Jedi Master both on Tatooine and walking through the seedy streets of Daiyu. 

Lucasfilm also shared four new character posters for Obi-Wan Kenobi just hours after the premiere dropped on Disney+.

As you can see below, they offer a closer look at Reva (Moses Ingram), The Grand Inquisitor (Rupert Friend), The Fifth Brother (Sung Kang), and Haja Estree (Kumail Nanjiani). They all played key roles in the first two episodes, though we're a little surprised that Vivien Lyra Blair's Princess Leia hasn't joined them. We'd argue that Uncle Owen is worthy of his own poster too! 

"Obi-Wan Kenobi is a showcase for the immense talents of Ewan McGregor and Vivien Lyra Blair, and after just two episodes, it's already on a par with The Mandalorian as the best Star Wars TV series yet," we said in our review of the Disney+ series following its debut earlier today.

Really enjoyed the first 2 episodes and Ewan was as amazing as usual. Good sets and visuals as well. The only bit where you could notice it was a sound stage, was during the rooftop chase in ep.2.

Quite liked the Inquisitors too.

Can't wait to see Vader in the next few episodes.

Grew up with the prequels, so this show is everything I've ever wanted.

Tatooine stuff : great

Leia : A bit mixed on her, although she isn't bad

Villains : Worst Disney era villains

show is more good than bad, big improvement over Book of Fett, although the villains are a major issue, new girl is not believable and the grand inquisitor........don't think even jason issacs would be able to make this version intimidating

Just watched the first 2 episodes. Aside from Leia sometimes going a little far with her precociousness (and her somehow being able to outrun every adult even though all she can do is waddle), I'm into it. McGregor's terrific, and I love that Sister lady.

Also, big shoutout to the cinematography. Courtesy of Chung-Hoon Chung, who also shot these.

Mostly loved both episodes and cannot wait for the third. Kumail Nanjiani didn't fit the Star Wars vibe but that's just me. Reva should have been a bit more alien looking maybe, just to look a bit more intimidating. The rest of the baddies I like. Ewan is just perfect in the role.

Just as Reva entered the mind of Haja Estree, I would also like to see Vader enter the mind of Obi Wan taking advantage of the connection between the two.

Perhaps visions projected into Obi Wan's mind.

I've enjoyed it so far. I only have two complaints.

1. It's far too obvious that they are going a little overboard showing Leia's stubborn, take no crap personality even as a kid. There were a couple parts in the show where she got really annoying, and I never felt that way about Leia in the movies.

2. The Inquisitors. I don't hate them in this, but I do feel like this has been the weakest interpretation of them that we've seen. In Rebels and Jedi: Fallen Order they really felt like people you didn't want to come across. But here, they feel more like inconveniences that anything else. Maybe that will change once we see them fight. Also, the Grand Inquisitor and Reva are obviously meant to feel like the most intimidating, but I actually felt like the one with the weird hat was the best of them all.

Overall I really liked the show though. It already feels a lot better than Book of Boba Fett, which was only saved by having a few Mandalorian episodes that didn't include Boba Fett. It does remind me of how I felt when watching the first couple episodes of Mandalorian. Like we've finally got more good Star Wars content.

I'm not surprised they didn't give screen grabs of the opening sequence. Let me show you and tell you why. Sorry for the poor quality photos, I took pictures of my TV.

I came back from a much needed break to post my theory I haven't seen anyone else bring up yet.


:POSSIBLE SPOILER AHEAD:







I believe the opening wasn't just a recap of Order 66's devastation. This was actually Reva's origin.


The opening shot.


The very first character we see in the entire show... who could this little girl be? I wonder lol


She's always framed either in the center or leading the kids.


Her robes are colored to stand out among the other younglings.


The center of her class.

Reva leading the other younglings.


Her standing above the other younglings, likely the oldest, probably 11 or 12, making her 22 in the show.

Reva leads the other younglings away in the front of the group as the scene ends.

My theory, Reva escaped and went on the run with her youngling friends, and over the 10 years had faith Obi-Wan would find them and show them the way, save them from the Sith and restore the Jedi. But Obi-Wan never came, his holocron message a burning reminder to Reva that they were abandoned by the Jedi. She had to watch all her friends be hunted over the 10 years and die at the hands of the Empire, until her anger and bitterness made her join the Inquisitors. The Inquisitors are former Jedi who now hunt Jedi, and I believe she wants revenge for Obi-Wan abandoning them.

Maybe they aren't on the run the entire 10 years, and they kill her friends but are impressed by her and her anger at them, and at Obi-Wan for abandoning them for years, and they recruit her when she's still young.

Either way, the woman hunting Obi-Wan is a monster he inadvertently created by giving up and going into hiding. The same inaction that made him reluctant to go after Leia or keep fighting the Sith was the very inaction that created Reva's thirst for what she's owed, vengeance.

Anytime Ewan McGregor is on screen, the show is great. He's a great actor that can carry a scene with a simple gaze or facial expression; he doesn't even need to speak.

Anytime he's not on screen, the show is trash. Little Leia is about as annoying as little Anakin. And the Inquisitors are the worst villains ever. Either the writing for the dialog is off, or the actors just suck, because all of the scenes without Obi Wan are laughably bad.
