THE MANDALORIAN: Has Season 3's Real Villain Been In Front Of Us This Whole Time? - Possible SPOILERS

The Mandalorian has delivered more than a few surprises during season 3, but with the finale looming, we have some thoughts on who the show's true villain is (and we're not talking about Moff Gideon).

In the latest episode of The Mandalorian, "The Spies," Moff Gideon made his return alongside an army of Stormtroopers decked out in Beskar armour.

The villain plans to once again purge Mandalore of its native people, reshaping the planet in his own twisted image. Combining what he calls the best of the Jedi, Mandalorian, and cloning cultures, Gideon outsmarted Din Djarin and Bo-Katan Kryze, but could he have had some help?

Well, we believe The Armorer intends to betray her fellow Mandalorians and has, in fact, been working with Gideon this whole time!

Given how proactive she's been in season 3, it's easy to forget that the unnamed character is a fanatic who leads a cult. The Armorer even expelled Din from her covert because he removed his helmet, saying the only way he could regain his status was to return to a dead planet (a seemingly impossible mission).

Now, an argument could be made that her conversation with Bo-Katan about the legendary Mythosaur has changed her outlook, hence why she's suddenly changed her stance on the Nite Owl removing her helmet and bringing those who have lost sight of "The Way" back into the fold.

We're not buying that, though, and think uniting the Mandalorians was a deliberate move so they could more easily be destroyed by Gideon. She left Mandalore awfully quickly with those injured warriors and right in time to avoid the attack from his Stormtroopers.

That could be coincidental, of course, and there's a chance The Armorer will now have to fight to survive once those TIE Interceptors arrive. Even so, we can't ignore the similar helmet design both she and Gideon are rocking. Death Watch was briefly loyal to Maul and fans have long theorised that she might have served him.

It's hard to say what interest Gideon would have in Maul, but he may well have crossed paths with the former Sith Lord or simply admired the way he briefly conquered Mandalore with the Darksaber in hand. Gideon and The Armorer being in cahoots definitely adds up and let's not forget that she has always talked in a very villainous manner!

Gideon will have also needed someone to forge his new armour and when The Armorer said she'd worked on the planet's forge, she may well have been referring to recent months rather than the distant past.

We'll see what happens in next's week's The Mandalorian finale, but a betrayal like this would definitely sting and leave the Mandalorians once again in disarray and an easy target for the Empire. However, they will have Bo-Katan there to lead them alongside Din...

It makes sense. But it's just another theory that could prove wrong, like the alleged death of Din that the internet has been talking about so much.

@cadunovaes01 - I've got to imagine that as stupid as Disney's Star Wars has been at times, even they wouldn't kill off Mando.

@CorndogBurglar - Star Wars on Disneys umbrella is “hit and miss”, I love Andor and Rogue One and I hate Boba Fett, for exemple…

I'm shocked... Though I have no interest in ever watching this.

It's not a bad theory.

She does seem to be more apparent this season, but I feel its one of those things where the writers haven't decided on it and shoot it both ways deciding quite late in the game which way they want the story to go, another reason it makes me feel they have no clue where they want the story to go.

@UniqNo - I feel like bringing back Grogu changed their plans, him being back is just weird, felt like his part in this story ended in s2.

@Taonrey - I'd like to think Disney pushed for him to come back...due to selling toys and merch.

The way they brought him back was dumb in someone else's show. seeing Luke and Ashoka was nice but it really wasn't needed yet.

@UniqNo - agreed, I liked that episode of BOBF where we got to see Mando checking in on Grogu and Grogu training with Luke but the last set should've seen of Grogu in that series was him being given the choice between Jedi and Mandalorian by Luke. Din and Grogu reuniting should've happened in this season of The Mandalorian, even if it was in the first couple of episodes.

@AC1 - *the last we should've seen

@UniqNo - I do t think Grogu returning to Mando in BoBF was a result of Disney pushing for Grogu to reunite with Mando. If that were the case they could have spent the first fee episodes this season dealing with that and the season would have been MUCH better off for it.

I think it was more along the lines of them wanting to include an important fee episodes of Mando stuff in a mediocre show. They needed some filler and thought they could gain some more viewers by having that play out in Boba Fett. Even though it was a really bad call.
Conquistador
Conquistador - 4/15/2023, 10:44 AM
@CorndogBurglar - That's a possibility, but them they should have just structured that show better. While it wasn't terrible it definitely goes to 'mid' pile for star wars stuff. And that pile is starting to get higher when compared to the rest.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/15/2023, 11:15 AM
@UniqNo - Oh absolutely! If they didn't have enough story to tell in Boba Fett then they shouldn't have made it. They shouldn't have stuffed Mandy's story in there to fill 2 episodes. They could have easily had him show up in the last episode to help out.

Seen the theory floating around this week but it seems a bit off to me. In Season 1 it's pretty clear she's on Din's side, especially with her essentially being the one in the S1 finale to state that Din is essentially Grogu's father and should act as such until he at least delivers him to the Jedi - it would be incredibly convoluted and silly to suggest this was some kind of ploy to help Gideon get Grogu back.

The only way I can see The Armorer being a traitor is if she sided with Gideon at some point after Season 1 and only because in some way she believes it'll help Mandalorian culture - possibly by getting rid of the other Mandalorian factions that rival her own and ensuring all remaining Mandalorians follow "The Way" - but I don't think it would make sense to reveal she's a full blown Imperial.

Conquistador - 4/15/2023, 5:34 AM
@AC1 - Yeah, again I think it wasn't the plan from the beginning if there's a turn it would be somthing that they decided on much later.

If she does turn, it will be for the Mandalorian cause from her POV.. and was just using Bo Katan to further that cause. By asking her to remove her helmet she decided at that point she didn't belong. It will be something like the Kryze family did her people aren't etc. I don't think she's really in cahoots with Gideon.
AC1
AC1 - 4/15/2023, 6:44 AM
@UniqNo - yeah I feel like that's the only way this theory kinda makes sense
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/15/2023, 8:44 AM
@AC1 - I don't think they would say she's a full blown Imperial. Why would she go out of her way to make Mando a full set of Beskar armor and help him become that much harder to kill of she was working against him that whole time?

It feels like she was persuaded by Gideon at some point after season 1. Possibly even after season 2.

I miss the quiet episodes of just Din and Grogu going off on different missions. I’m not liking them having all of these friends, it’s a lot of noise.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 4/15/2023, 8:48 AM
@JonAwesome - Thats what I was hoping the Boba Fett series would be like. Getting his armor back and then each episode focusing on him going after different targets

Mando started off that way but quickly got away from it. And Mando was tied too closely to the Mandalorians. Doing this with Boba Fett could have been a really good way of showing the underworld and other bounty hunters that he could team up with at times or fight against over another target at other times.

They really took Boba Fett in a weird direction I feel like most fans wouldn't have ever wanted.

If she is a traitor, then there is absolutely nobody we care about on the fleet, making the upcoming attack on it less exciting.

I think the more likely thing is that the Mandalorians they met on the planet were working with Gideon (hence leading them to the trap at the forge) and the ones that the Armorer are taking up to the fleet for medical care are a Trojan Horse squad that will turn on her and the fleet when aboard.

CassianAndor - 4/15/2023, 12:05 PM
@Chewtoy - That makes more sense, which means it probably won’t happen. Idk though. I’ve found it very hard to predict where the show is going this season. It seems like even the writers don’t know.

My theory is the 3 random mandos that showed up and knew how to get to the forge, are in cahoots with the Armorer..who is in cahoots with Gideon.

Here's a curveball..I also think Coruscant will be destroyed. If not in the finale..when thrawn amd the 7th return. Maybe the Filoni movie.

could totally happen but it would not be an earned or organic storytelling beat. this would be one of those dun-dun-dun cheesy reveals…which makes it even more likely to happen 😂

i dunno wtf happened to this show. i think acting on just those green stages for everything is hampering the show’s options and performances. everything about Gideon is awful and embarrassing to watch. we know the guy can act, but every scene he’s in seems like he’s waiting for a director to guide him - but nobody does so he just keeps on winging it lol

the rest of the cast is doing as good as they can with the bad scripts. agreed with everybody here that the Grogu reunion should have been this season and not in BOBF.
CassianAndor
CassianAndor - 4/15/2023, 1:07 PM
@maxx - It’s like they wanted him to be as threatening as Gus Fring but they didn’t understand what actually made Gus scary. It certainly wasn’t because he was physically threatening. The guy is like 65 years old. Why are they trying to make him a physical threat? So odd.

I’m going to say I disagree. It’s way out of character for her to just sellout the creed.
