The Mandalorian has added its first major cast member, with the legendary Christopher Lloyd signing on for an undisclosed part in the upcoming third season of the Disney+ Star Wars series.
According to THR (via SFF Gazette), the Back To The Future actor's role will be "guest star in nature," but that's about all we have to go on for the time being.
No official plot details for the third season of The Mandalorian have been revealed (there are some purported leaks doing the rounds if you want to spoil yourself!), but The Book of Boba Fett did give us some idea of what to expect. Two episodes of the recent series focused on Din Djarin, who helped Fett fend off the Pyke Syndicate before being reunited with Grogu.
We assume the story will pick up shortly after the pair leave Tatooine in Mando's nifty new Naboo Starfighter, but a significant time-jump is also a possibility.
Pedro Pascal will, of course, return as the titular bounty hunter, along with Carl Weathers as Greef Carga and Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon. No other regular cast members have been confirmed, but we'd expect to see Emily Swallow's Armorer, Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, and Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, at the very least.
Cameras are currently rolling in Southern California, but no premiere date has been announced.
