During The Mandalorian's third season, Katee Sackhoff returned as Bo-Katan Kryze, a character she first played in The Clone Wars animated TV series. It was there we saw Bo-Katan meet the young Ahsoka Tano, and with both characters now part of live-action stories, a reunion can't be too far off, right?
Talking to The Direct (via SFFGazette.com), Sackhoff shared her belief that the former allies will eventually be reunited.
"Yeah. I mean, I can't imagine that they wouldn't at some point," the actress admitted. "But, you know, again, I have no idea. You know, I have absolutely no idea. They don't tell me anything until I show up at work with my script in hand."
The site also asked Sackhoff for her thoughts on Sabine Wren's transformation into a Jedi in Ahsoka, a startling new status quo which has given the Star Wars franchise a true Jedi Mandalorian for the first time in thousands of years.
"I think that Bo has always worked side by side with the Jedi and the Mandalorian people," she said. "And I think that she sees the benefit of the two groups working together. And I think that she would, she would probably think nothing of it other than, 'Wow, that's pretty wonderful. Good for you.'"
Sackhoff has already strongly hinted that she'll return as Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian season 4, but what about beyond that? We know Dave Filoni plans to bring many of these Disney+ characters together for his eventual Star Wars movie, with the prevailing opinion being that the project will loosely adapt Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" story.
Asked what Bo-Katan could bring to the table there, she says, "Well, I think that the Mandalorian people have a lot of rebuilding to do. But I think that the Mandalorians have always been a phenomenal military asset. So, I don't know. She's always been incredibly strategic and methodical. So I think that those skills could be useful. But you never know."
When Ahsoka concluded, the title character and Sabine Wren were left stranded in a strange Galaxy on a planet named Peridea. Grand Admiral Thrawn, meanwhile, had returned to the main Galaxy with The Great Mothers alongside him; they were last seen travelling to seemingly Dathomir to resurrect what many fans believe will be an army of undead Nightsisters.
With Ahsoka season 2 expected to be released before Filoni's untitled movie, there's plenty of time for Bo-Katan and her Jedi friends to cross paths again. And, as the actress says, Mandalore being a key asset in the fight against Thrawn seems like a logical place to take this story.
What would you like to see from Bo-Katan on screen moving forward?
