When "Chapter 5" of The Mandalorian ended with a mysterious figure approaching the body of Fennec Shand, there was immediate speculation that it might be Boba Fett. After all, the unknown character was wearing spurs, and the events of the episode had taken place on Tatooine!
Well, when the series returned for its second season, we soon learned that the bounty hunter was alive and on the hunt for his armour. Din Djarin ultimately returned that to Fett, and an unlikely partnership followed that saw the iconic Star Wars villain transformed into something of an anti-hero. In the finale's post-credit scene, the stage was set for The Book of Boba Fett when he returned to Tatooine and gunned down Bib Fortuna before taking his place on Jabba's throne.
We've been waiting for more details on the series before it premieres on December 29, and Lucasfilm and Disney+ have now confirmed that it will run for a total of seven weekly episodes.
Jon Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard, Dave Filoni, Steph Green, and Kevin Tancharoen have all been confirmed to direct episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, but we don't know if any of the filmmakers will be pulling double duty or if there are still more to be announced in the weeks ahead.
Regardless, this episode count means the show wraps up in early February, so don't bank on any new Marvel Studios content on the streamer before then.
