A SNOWPIERCER TV Series Is Officially In The Works

Snowpiercer was one of the most underrated sci-fi movies of the last few years. Now it seems the property will be resurrected, in the form of a TV show!

Snowpiercer was one of the best sci-fi movies of 2014. Bong Joon Ho's adaptation of the 1982 graphic novel 'Le Transperceneige' was a gripping, thought-provoking adventure, and rivalled Edge Of Tomorrow for most underrated film of the year. The movie wasn't seen by many, after it received a very limited release (imposed by the studio after Bong refused to cut it down). Thankfully, it's become a bit of a cult hit, while the property has been given a second chance.

According to THR, the film will be adapted as a TV series, with Sarah Connor Chronicles' & Crossbones scribe Josh Friedman attached to write, with Bong set to executive produce.
"I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity," Friedman said. "I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer. It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?"

The series is being made by ITV's Tomorrow Studios (who were behind the NBC straight-to-series drama Aquarius). It'll likely be shopped out to find a network suitor at some point in the near future. Are you interested in watching a Snowpiercer TV series? Sound off below!

Set in 2031, the entire world is frozen except for those aboard the Snowpiercer. The survivors are on a train hurtling around the globe creating their own economy and class system. Led by Curtis, a group of lower-class citizens living in squalor at the back of the train are determined to get to the front of the train and spread the wealth around. Each section of the train holds new surprises for the group who have to battle their way through. A revolution is underway.

I thought it was an interesting movie with a fantastic idea, and halfway through it was executed great. Then the ending fell apart for me a little bit. I don't see how we get a tv series out of this unless you go 5 episodes a season

Yeah the last part was the weak link of the movie, but anyway I really liked that film.

I loved the movie, but I'm not sure how they're supposed to turn it into a series. I feel like they covered everything pretty well in the film. I'm just not sure what new direction they could go in to avoid it being a stretched out version of the film.

Was a decent movie for a one time watch, but I doubt I would watch a series of this. I was sold on Chris Evans not the idea of the plot. Although the idea turned out decent.

I assume that rather than the flat-out violent revolt we got in the film, the show would deal with longer term life on the train and some political jockeying for control, moving up and down the classes and that kind of thing.

Not sure I really need more of that world, but I did quite enjoy the film so I'm at least interested...

I mean it was OKAY, but the ending was downright awful. The Host had that same problem. Most of it was perfectly good, but ending was just a whole lot of nothing.

Snowpierceris a great flick. And I'm sure it will make a great tv show, just keep it away from Fox. Netflix or HBO or Showtime or Starz is the way to go!

The movie was AMAZING!! really affected my profoundly.

But i don't think it would benefit from being a TV Series. A film format works best because it progresses in a regular pattern. It echo's the plot in that they move from one carriage to the next. So over the course of those 2 hours you see a natural plot arc.

A TV series would have to linger and loiter around a specific plot point or a location for a lot longer than needed, for dramatic purposes and to fill in a time slot. I don't think it's a good idea.

hope its after the end of the film where the series takes off.
seems redundant and unnecessary to do a whole show on the train.
