In a surprising turn of events, during the WarnerMedia upfronts, it was announced that Snowpiercer, which isn't set to debut until spring 2020, has already received an early second season renewal.

Along with this announcement, it was also revealed that Snowpiercer will be moving from its original home at TNT to TBS in an effort to broaden the network's programming beyond comedies.

While Snowpiercer, which is based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige, was previously adapted to film by Bong Joon Ho, the TBS show will not be connected to the 2014 movie. However, director Bing Joon Ho will serve as a producer on the series.

Snowpiercer, which comes from showrunner Graeme Manson (Orphan Black), boasts a cast that includes Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Iddo Goldberg, and Katie McGuinness

TBS sounds like an odd choice for this type of material.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - My thoughts exactly. That's like CBS getting a Saw tv series.

@lemric - I remember reading that the show was in the works. i had no idea it was greenlit. I am not sure what I feel about this. The show is constrained in a way. How many stories can you tell about people in a speeding train since either you get away from the class-ism theme of the graphic novel or you over do that theme. I hope it works out!

Ayyyyeeee!! GREAT to see Diggs in this!!

Just like Ryan Coogler, another Oakland/Bay Area native getting in that work!

This man is very talented.

If you know nothing about him, PLEASE look up & watch 'Blindspotting' and then check out BOTH soundtracks to the film. Diggs and his co-star and real life childhood friend Rafael Casal display some serious skill on screen and in your speakers!!
