Deadline is reporting that Academy Award-nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange; Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) has joined the cast of Sony and Marvel's Venom 3.
No further details on his role are currently available, but it's being labeled as a co-starring part, so it could be fairly major in comparison, or at least similar in scale to his role as Baron Mordo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He'll star opposite Tom Hardy, who returns as the titular Lethal Protector, with 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Juno Temple (Ted Lasso; Fargo) recently joining the cast in an undisclosed role.
No word on any returning cast members, but we hope they're able to bring back Michelle Williams and/or Stephen Graham to close out the trilogy.
Kelly Marcel is directing from a screenplay she co-wrote with Hardy. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but a recent rumor has seemingly shed some light on the film's potential villains.
Filming is set to commence this summer, so expect a lot more casting news in the coming weeks.
As for whether the film could build off that little multiversal Spider-Man: No Way Home tease, that's yet to be determined, although we wouldn't hate it if this Venom took a little inspiration from his brief time in the MCU and added that Spider insignia to his chest to complete his look.
