Rockstar Games has released the launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, pulling back the curtain on what to expect from the game. It seems Lucia is released from prison and pulls Jason, who used to serve in the military, back into a life of crime.
This sneak peek is heavy on both romance and crime, and balancing this relationship—if you choose to maintain it, that is—with Jason and Lucia's criminal activities promises to be one of the most compelling parts of this game.
It looks absolutely incredible in this latest preview, and is clearly set to push the boundaries of what this current generation of consoles can do.
In Grand Theft Auto VI, Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida — forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
The launch trailer features new music from electronic duo Justice, composers of the original score from Grand Theft Auto VI.
The new standalone Justice single, "Flower in a Hurricane" feat. Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, is also available on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, the official soundtrack, which is currently available to pre-save on all major music streaming services and up for pre-order on vinyl or CD at gtavi-thealbum.com.
Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, recently told IGN, "I think the challenge for us on this game is the same as it is on any new game for us. How do we evolve and build upon the good things we have done before in all the ways these things need to evolve, but at the same time ensure that the game still has everything that made the previous games in this series resonate with people?"
"The game is so big, I don’t know that there’s anybody on the team that knows all of it," he added, teasing the epic scale of a game that's been a long time coming and, so far, looks like it will exceed expectations on every level.
Grand Theft Auto VI arrives November 19 on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S. Check out the trailer below (via GameFragger.com).
