Mark Wahlberg To Play Nathan Drake In Uncharted Movie Adaptation!

Mark Wahlberg To Play Nathan Drake In Uncharted Movie Adaptation!

Based on the best selling video game and motion comic, the actor has confirmed recent rumours that he'll play the lead character in the movie and also says that Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci are both in the running for roles...

"David is one of the best writer/directors I've ever worked with. The idea that he has is just insane. So hopefully we'll be making that movie this summer."

"I'm obviously in whatever David wants to do, but the idea of it is so off the charts: De Niro being my father, Pesci being my uncle. It's not going to be the watered-down version, that's for sure."

As you can see from the action packed trailer below, a faithful movie adaptation has the potential to be awesome. While many fans (including myself) of the game were hoping that Nathan Fillion would end up getting the role, Wahlberg is capable of giving a decent enough performace with the right director. Here's hoping they dont mess this one up.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves are both available exclusively on the PS3 and the motion comic is for sale on the Playstation Network. To see my take on who the cast should include, click HERE.

If not Fillion, I would have loved to have seen Joe Flanigan from Stargate Atlantis as Drake!

Perfect casting, IMO

Fillion WAS / IS perfect........but having said that, this role is 1000x more in Wahlberg's range than Crow ever could be. and David O. Russell is a real talent, with 3 Kings a favorite. I'm on board with this.

He's not the worst choice they could have gone for, but I struggle to see him pulling off a character like Nathan Drake. This isnt some brainless hardman that he'll be playing. It's a likeable guy that starts shouting, "Oh shit, oh shit" as grenades go off around his feet! Uncharted 2 is my all time favourite game and I truly hope that they dont [frick] this movie up. It should have been Nathan Fillion...

I've grown so accustomed to the Nathan Drake of the video game that I don't think anyone could pull him off. Maybe the actual voice actor???

Yo, I hear ya man! That game rocked so much. Still play it a lot.

Oh Hell, Wasnt Max Payne enough for him to screw up with? Now he´s gonna do that with Uncharted too. Oh Good Lord I was hoping Nathan Fillion to get the role. But Well, since they dont change the story too much, and keep it faithful to the first game. I not really a fan of Mark
I still hoping that Jeff Bridges plays Victor Sullivan.

I still think Boreanaz would portray Drake better. He fits the kind of personality (as his role in Bones) Drake has in the games.

Marky Mark is ONE, a horrible, just awful actor. TWO the role should go to someone less marky markish.

Nathan Drake is a FUN character, not a tough guy character. Marky mark knows how to put out good tv as a exe producer, entourage, boardwalk empire, but stop hiring this guy to act.

Well, i'm just glad he's doing this instead of The Crow. Gawd, THAT would have been a tragedy. But seriously though, after Max Payne??? REALLY??? I mean, now video games adaptations aren't even trying for [frick]'s sake. Are we certain Uwe Boll isn't behind all this?

2.mark is the total opposite of drake

Wonder who De Niro and Pesci would play?... I cant see them as Sully!

Nah! No Fillion! Can we get someone who looks little bit like Drake? Fillion has the personality for the role, but i dont really like him. Dont ask why.

Therealdeal1337@ Campbell would make a great Sully! William Hurt is my other choice.

The main villains
Terence Stamp as Gabriel Roman
Edgar Ramirez or Benicio Del Toro as Atoq Navarro

Much better than Fillion, IMO. If anything, they just should've got Nolan North to do it, then I'd definitely have more faith in this Game-to-Movie adaption. But, I'll just wait for more info and what not before I start putting this movie down.

They should use Wahlberg but dub Nolan North's (the guy who does an amazing job of voicing Drake in the games) voice over his. That would be awesome, lol!

Whyyyyyyyyy??????? I don't mind wahlberg as an actor but he is no nathan drake. there are soooo many better options. as for de niro, if he's playing sully i can definitely see that. either way this movie should be good but it has a lot of high expectations not only because of the success of both ages but cuz just about every movie based off of a video game and vise versa suck! there are some exceptions but primarily they all suck.

I agree Nathan Fillion or Joe Flanigan. Bruce Campbell or J K Simmons for Sully. Charlise Theron for Elena.

A younger Fillion would've been good. A younger Nolan North might've been good. Wahlberg? No, sorry, he's no Nate Drake material. Even if he had not already slaughtered one of the other most memorable video game characters...

Joe Flanigan (Colonel John Sheppard from Stargate Atlantis ) always reminded me of Nathan Drake. I think he'd be a better fit for the part than Wahlberg.

oh wait haven't we been in this postion before with keaton apparently he was never going to pull of batman but apparently he did, weren't we here with heath "the gay cowboy ledger" apparently he was too much of a pretty boy to pull of the joker but apparently he won a oscar for it :0,

if your not getting the message then let me explain it he might not be perfect but frick sakes see the guy in action first if he's crap in the movie then come back and rip him apart, yeah he might not pull of it but be a bit "optimistic" or "open minded"
