Tancharoen posted on he's Twitter account that we can expect the first episode for he's Mortal Kombat web series before the video game comes out on April 19, 2011 and also mentions Sonya blade killing some Black Dragons. Check it out below:

Wikipedia:
Kano is the leader of the Black Dragon criminal empire. Making his first chronological appearance in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, he freed fellow Black Dragon cohorts No Face, Tasia, Jarek and Tremor from a U.S. Special Forces security facility, under the pretense that they would reform the Black Dragon organization

Mortal Kombat is set for an April 19, 2011 release in the US, and a EU release on April 21, on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 systems. A PC version is also posed as a possibility.

You know what I find interesting?A lot of people were pissing on the G.I. Joe sequel because Jon Chu, who has a background in dance and has directed 2 Step Up movies and the Justin Bieber movie, was hired as director.

But, the main complaint I've heard about this project is people don't want a realistic Mortal Kombat(though we know it isn't going to be).No one really ever points out that Kevin Tancharoen also has a background in dance and most, if not all of his previous credits involve music and dancing.

Neither bother me, but I'm wondering if the same people who have a problem with Chu also have a problem with Kevin Tancharoen directing an action movie, due to his specific film background?

@tazmaniak: Likely because most people here saw what he did with the Rebirth short and realized his background was irrelevant.

It also might have something to do with the fact that the Rebirth short he directed was good, and the G.I. Joe film series is a tainted name after that first one -- new director or not.

"Likely because most people here saw what he did with the Rebirth short and realized his background was irrelevant."

Then shouldn't the other guy be given the same courtesy? If two guys have the exact same film background and one turns out a reasonably good version of a genre project, then doesn't it stand to reason the other guy might do the same thing?

"It also might have something to do with the fact that the Rebirth short he directed was good, and the G.I. Joe film series is a tainted name after that first one -- new director or not."

But what about the last Mortal Kombat movie? It was far worse than G.I. Joe.
