Final fantasy 8 is the one that should be remade. I still remember being blown away at the opening sequence. Hopefully it will be next.

Looks absolutely glorious! So happy they didn't stick to garbage turn based style combat

While I'm excited for this, my favorite Final Fantasy was always between IV and VI. I lean towards IV.

I love how its just the cool thing to say that VI was better now.

Everyone says it, even people who have never played it, because its that repeated people think its the thing that 'real gamers' would say.

Having played them all, I can honestly say I have the fondest memories of VII and I'm glad its being remade. The materia system was far and away the best magic system they've had in a game and the world-building was incredible. But sadly disappointed that they've moved to this 'modern' style 'real time' combat. Its utter trash and it a huge part of why the newer games in the series just aren't as awesome as the old style, random encounter, turn based stuff. It does however cater to the COD generation and their 3 minute attention span, so it was to be expected I guess.

Wish it looked more like the original. The simplicity and the turnbased action was what I loved so much about it. It was the added realism that eventually killed the series for me.

Some people are more excited for the Resident Evil 2 remake than this. Then again, I'll probably buy both of these sons of bitches. I don't label.

Oh and PlayStation Experience 2015 was so bad... Only this and Ninokuni II were great.

My god, it's beautiful.

Really happy they dropped turn based fighting. I've been playing games for two decades and turn based fighting always turned me off. I suffered through it in the Final Fantasy games I played but it takes me out of the game and feels more like a "watch these cool moves" instead of "do these cool moves."

@Ipitythefool Agreed, FF8 sucked hard. Especially since it was sandwiched between the legends that are 7 and 9. 8 is one of my most disliked and is the only one I don't own up till 10.

Looks great, but different. That's not a bad thing though. People, myself included, have been waiting for this remake for a long time. The thing that shocked me the most is that it's going to have the new fight system. I haven't played any of the newer ones, but as i understand, the fights aren't turn based anymore.

See, I beg to differ. I see 9 as a poor follow up to 7 & 8. My favorites are 6,7,8... in that order. I'm an old dog.

8 was a completely different direction, which was VERY unexpected. There isn't a single one like it. It was three steps backward. 8 was the natural progression the series was going. The battle engine was unique, and no other game really tried doing it quite like that. It took the "Steal" command to the next level. Crafting weapons was unique at the time too.

Yea final fantasy 8 was flawed. But the cut scenes was beautiful. That game turned me on to RPGs. Most games back then was flawed. And the replay value was excellent. It took me over a year to fill everyone's stats and collect everything. The soundtrack to the game was awesome. That's the game they should clean up and remake.

Hoping this is good. FF7 was the reason I bought a Playstation 1 in the first place. Still have my copy of FF7 too.

I started final fantasy on the super Nintendo with ff4 and ff6. I've played and beat every installment since then. Ff7 was amazing and this remake will be a day one buy for sure. That being said, I do wish they'd completely remake 6 instead though.

Absolutely beautiful. My absolute favorite game of all time. VII in my opinion was by far the best of the series (and I've played them all up to XII). It changed the graphics in video games forever.I have played it so many times I lost count. After VII,it seems as Final Fantasy gradually lost value and quality. But I still love the series. Some of the best gaming ever.

...as long as they don't take anything (over world, music, summons, NPCs, mini games, items, weapons, armor, accessories, materia, etc.) away from the original game. Keep every aspect from the original intact in the remake and simply enhance the gameplay/graphics. I'll miss the turn-based style, but as long as they don't take away limit breaks, magic spells, summons, abilities, and so forth, that is fine IMO; also, I stil want control of all characters; no automated characters in combat.

Also don't take anything away from the original story; add to the story; don't change or delete any of it.
Macksimus
Macksimus - 12/6/2015, 12:08 PM
...and if this remake is a success, then the next obvious installment to remake is FFVI. That game MUST be remade IMO. It could be the next great FF game IMO.

@MisterBabadook On second thought, I can appreciate there was an attempt with 8 to introduce some radical changes. The gameplay itself was innovative but I think my biggest issue was that it for some reason didn't feel like Final Fantasy to me. It almost seems like a totally different game with FF name thrown onto it ala Super Mario 2. I think they heard the criticism and 9 felt alot more like American FF II/III. Just my preference, 8 falls towards the bottom of my favorites list but I can appreciate what they were trying to do.

Never played the original nor other FF for that matter, I know the game's legacy. When they first announced this remake, it was like you could feel the disturbance in the force as of thousands of gamers suddenly cried out in joy. Anyway, my only experience about this game re those hilarious Team Four Star videos, and I really hope they acknowledge this remake somehow in their future videos.

Damn, play on PS4 first, hopefully they will release it on PC or Xbox not long after, really looking forward to this, the original is one of my favourite games. Hopefully it has the atmosphere of the original, no game since has had a feel like FF7 for me.

@Odin Oh you have to play FF. Not sure if you're the type to like to play older games but FF3(American 3) FF7 and FF9 are in my top 5. 3 is my favorite but it's old school SNES.

It looks great, I just wish they didn't change the battle style. Sadly turn base RPGs are going away. I hope VIII will get remade next. I never understand why so many people hate that game. In my opinion it is better than VII, but I still like VII too. The one I can't stand is IX. Because they went back to more of a cartoon style.
